1911's Pics Thread

its too bad things like that get done, whether its to something rare or otherwise, but considering it was with a hacksaw, i'd say you didn't do too bad of a job;).
seriously though, what would that be worth if it was unmolested? i don't know a whole lot about the value of older pistols.

Bad news, good news....

Bad news, too bad about the Rem Rand slide.

Good news, by the serial number, 1,856,570 your USGI 1911A1 frame was made by Ithaca in later 1944 [serial number range 1,816,642 to 1,890,503]. So, if you look for a similar condition Ithaca mfg slide you could semi-restore it to something worth a few bucks. Your frame has the "SA" = Springfield Arsenal refurb proof on it as well, meaning that it was refurbed at a military arsenal at least once in it's previous life.

I was wondering when you were going to chime in , thanks for going easy on me :).

yeah it was a silly mistake long time ago, definetly regretted it right away.

just the once;), i've long sinse rid myself of bubba:p
You born a bubba, you die a bubba. So at least be a proud one.

I'm a proud bubba:rockOn:
my number 1 victim:

Doesn't look too much bubba like that but as soon as you scratch the surface LOL.
-The sights were glued in, removal of rear sight took the black paint off, front sight had the same treatment so only option was to dremel it off. I've put carbon fiber decal over these 2 areas.
-Screws for thumb rest and c-more mount are 8-32 machine screws courtesy of home depot, ordering some purpose 5-40 from a gun shop was too long.
-spacer for the thumb rest was made with the first thing I could put my hand on that was just wide enough. The STI mag spacer from a versa mag pouch :) (don't need em obviously since that rig is single stack)

still awaiting a new 10-8 performance flat trigger, new pin set (I've bubbaed some of my pins too much) and extended/oversized mag release.

That is one sweet gun. Where do you get the grip tape?

For the grips tape, just go to your local skateboard shop and buy a sheet. I bought a sheet at West 49 for $7.00 and will have enough to last for ever. I put a piece on middle of last year, still like new.

I just bought a roll of Black Diamond skateboard tape from Scotties (Thickson/Hwy2 Whitby) for my G21. They are have a 30-50% off the whole store until the end of this week. I should have enough for a lifetime right now for under 10 bucks. Works great.

Looks like you are from Saskatchewan so I guess this doesn't help.
