Colt Presentation 1911

Finally!!! Over 5 months from start to finish, it has arrived. My new Colt Presentation Grade 1911. A limited run 1911 with Colt factory Level "A" engraving, ivory grips, and finished in Colt Royal Blue. Presentation wooden box with red lining included as well. More pictures coming in a couple of days. Thanks Clay at Prophet River Arms for the importation service. It was GREAT!

It was my poor attempt at Alberta humor. Edmonchuck has got some good spots. And good people.

But my opinion is those commemoratives are really only good as a shooter.

I figured it's more than time I post something here. I tried my best, but I realized it's hard to take nice pictures even when you have nice guns.

My first 1911. I like classics so why not start with a 1964 National Match

They say you need to have at least one Colt. I sure like that pony.

For some reason I feel bad abusing the Colt. So, I bought a beater. I was going to buy a Norc and work on it a little, but Satan himself handed something else and I couldn't resist. I am weak

I am saving to buy one in 9mm. I'd like to import a Dan Wesson PM9, but I have other things to buy....

I've posted pics of this before, but it appears these "Black Army" guns are becoming quite in "vogue" down in the US. I've had this one for about 20 years. I took these today with lousy light.

I think it's about a 1917 production. Haven't actually checked the book lately and I've got too many to remember all the dates for each one.

As much as these are trendy right now, I sure like the high polished early guns.

Need to change the grip panels...
I gave it a try yesterday and wow... I consider myself a poor shot and I can really see a huge potential with this one. Dlask made one hell of a job :)

Got my new Alumagrips and Wilson Combat Frontstrap Checkering insert today.

I really like the setup now, the grip has a lot more bite then the neoprene ones that come with the stock pistol.

Interesting, did not know that Wilson made a checkered front strap insert. Just looked it up, seems cool. How secure is it with the locking method (using the grips correct?)

I just put some custom cut pieces of skatebaord tape from VZ grips on my front strap ( post #1133 ) and i love it. Pack of 3 for $10.

When I got it, I was a little unsure about it, but it seems to work really well.

It does go under the grips. The right side has a bend at the end that sticks into the cutout of the magwell to hold it in place, and the left side uses just the friction of the grip to keep it in place.

Seems to work just fine, the insert is solid as a rock. I think it was around $10, and the checkering is very agressive.

just bought a colt 1911 today, dont know much about it other then its a GI, ww2 era and had been reblued, so a 1911 A1 perhaps? either way i only paid 400$ for it because the dealer was a family friend and is getting it from an estate sale for me :D
