1911's Pics Thread

Guys,
Looking for advice on the current Canadian street value of the US&S. The last one I sold went for $3500.00 and it was not as nice as the one below. Most US auctions seem to have them from around 4K-6K

Good gawd! :eek::eek::eek:

I'm glad I scored mine when I did.... :ninja:

NAA.

I musta been missing something then, I didn't realize prices for US&S 1911's were so high, I bought a 1942 Colt Commercial-Military renumber a couple years ago, which I consider to be higher on the rarity scale, for less than half that, and I didn't think I was getting away with anything. Wowza!

This is an interesting one I scored ... It's tricked out, but underneath it's a WW1 Canadian contract Colt 1911 .. "C" prefix with a four digit serial .

The pics are a bit old .. I fitted new sights both front and rear, and it shoots like a champ. The gray park job was decent enough, but I wouldn't mind bringing it back to blue ...

DT,

That unit could be brought back to mint with a little work. The front site could be removed and a new "half moon" WW1 site made from scratch.

The rear site could also be made or found somewhere.

Funny you say that, PF ... I have been entertaining that thought lately. I already have two "shooter" .45's, so restoring this one is doable. I would prolly be further ahead to grab a new slide, the rear slot had been milled out oversized and the front site actually blew off recently, revealing the two stake-holes somebody put it on with. I had a local mill a dovetail for a new front sight, which in retrospect, I shouldn't have done. ( I missed that three-.45-slide deal on the EE a while back, due to no cash .. lol .. the Colt one would have been perfect ) To restore it to look like NAA's above would be mighty sweet ..

Hmmm .. you guys may have knocked me off the fence ... :D A bud of mine has a box full of older and stock 1911 parts. Going to see what he has that would go towards re-making this into a decent repro. I should also begin the hunt for a Colt slide of the proper vintage.

If you really want to get it back spec. You could pick up a GI spec slide from Caspian and then get us to engrave the original Colt markings, polish and blue...
Expensive though.

I get a WW1 era Colt parts bin gun back from the black oxide guy tomorrow. This one was a collection of bodged parts that used to be a Canadian Contract gun. I could only save the frame and some small parts.

Pics up tomorrow! :dancingbanana:

I say do it DT!!! :p

I've got two stripped for refinishing, one lent to my brother, one down for repair, one on the shelf waiting for restoration, one hopefully in the mail soon, a brand spanking new (to me) project/parts gun, and a huge itch to go shooting with a 1911. Been waiting for a suitable frame to match the .22 kit, but in the meantime, tonight I cobbled together a truly hideous mix.

An incorrect bit here and there, at least I can go to the range this weekend.

Crappy camera I know, but photos aren't my 'thing'.

They're kind of big I know, but I CAN resize if needed. I just figured it wasn't a huge deal.

EDIT: yea, I figured as much. lol
Resized had been requested. Score zero for me being lazy.

My brand new Norinco two tone Government Model. Haven't even fired her yet.
