I don't see them listed as a site sponser, but the link above gives the info.
As this is my first gun, I am not sure about slide play, but it does not seem to be loose. The finish is not bad, there is a roll mark on one side (or it's not finished right, but you have to hold it in the light to see it) I am happy with it. I would be shooting it this weekend if I had my att.

I want one.

I have been thinking about getting a Springfield, but this looks much cooler. I might have to put on my extra set of G.I. plastic Keye's grips :)

Price is a lot nicer than the Springfield also! Would like to hear more about how it performs, keep us posted. I think this was a good move for Remington, I bet these will do well.

Believe it or not my 1943 has very little slop/slideplay, it's surprisingly well built, compared to a WW1 Colt it is MUCH tighter/nicer.

Which club do you belong to Steve? Hope to have mine out next sunday (24th) if my ATT arrives...

Well ..... if all you've ever seen are well-worn WWI-era Colt pistols , I suppose you might say something like that......

However, believe me, when new they were very tight and very nice! :D

A couple of photos of the 1914-production Government Model which I am privileged to have in my custody - one of the 5,000 purchased that year by the Canadian Dept. of Militia & Defence. The first image shows just how highly polished the pistol is - what you see on the slide is the reflection of bare tree branches overhead! The second photo is poorer quality and downplays the high polish, but gives a better idea of the richness of the fire bluing.

(Click each thumbnail to enlarge.)

My 1914 Canadian contract is also the tightest of the bunch I've got. That being said, mine has passed through several hands, and has been played around with, so I can't say that it wasn't tightened up after the fact. I also don't have extensive experience with any other than the few I own.

By the way Grant, I'll never get tired of seeing pics of that pistol.

Just got some fancy shmancy new grips the other day. Have to do some clearancing on the screw holes and the mag release cutout.

I think they look neat, but its like putting glass on the pistol, probably too fragile for use.

Ithaca is now going to be making a modern G.I. as well!

That kinda stinks. I've been getting my Ithaca restored, but you will probably be able to get a brand new one for less. At the same time, I like the traditional 1911/a1 style more than the "modern", so its nice to see another in the spirit of the old days. They should fit it with the proper grips, though.

The new one might be cool and practical for shooting, but no way it compares to the real deal! I'm hoping to find an original Ithaca next, then someday a US&S just so NAA doesn't have the only big four collection ;)

Also, I've heard the Ithaca's are going to be pricey, a forum in the states is saying 2400 for the pimped up version in the top of the pic, and 1200 for the standard....yikes....

A GI for $1200?! Seems a little extreme considering I could buy vintage for that price. I'm with Deadman - Springers and Colts work just fine for a modern GI. As advantous as the high-rides and bobbed hammers may be, I just can't get away from a standard grip safety, and blood-drawing hammer :)

3 1911s later, and I still haven't gotten around to the installs. Perhaps on the next one. Hey Deadman, seems like you have a surplus, feel like donating a Springer ;)
