1911's Pics Thread

Deal. I've always wanted to put together one of those fandangled 'enhanced' 1911s; always thought a Springfield GI or milspec would be perfect. It's actually pretty funny, as I have only gotten it [bitten] with the old S70. I have been trying to run my Colt S80 ORM pretty hard, and has become a favorite with no bite. Smooth trigger, accurate considering all the movement, and it eats everything. Still even with this unlikely gem, I still find myself horribly jealous. Keep flashing us those pics. Outstanding.

.... I've never gotten to experience this hammer bite you speak of.....

+1

Nearly ~ 30 years of owning/shooting 1911's, including several original Colt 1911's with the long hammer & short tang grip safety, and having hands on the larger side, I still have never been "bitten"....

NAA.

Still wouldn't trade it. Love my GIs. That's one thing I wish I saw more of: modern GIs that people are willing to shoot.

It seems to be the latest trend - modern G.I.'s that is, so i expect you'll start to see a lot more. Colt, Springfield, Remington, Para, Ithaca, RIA, Auto Ordnance just to name a few. I think this is a good thing. It would be nice to see S.T.I. do one as well.

They have one slated to come out. The question is whether or not it will do the STI name justice. Would make a hell of a platform to work off of, if reasonably priced. My Colts have done me just fine, but if I come into a little extra cash...and stop being so miopic, then maybe ;)

I'm just trying to wear in that last Colt, and until it falls apart, I'm going to keep beating in up [with love].

Retro GIs are like the new Mustang with solid rear axels...

I apprecipate the look of the GI models but modern 1911 are much much better shooter in all aspects (as long as it's not series 80/firing pin block).

Though I have felt a few pretty aweful S80 or variants of such - like Kimber - I have still had a few goldies. Either way, I'm going to stop my banter and leave this space to the pic posters. If I weren't on the phone I would have posted a few of those Yost GI builds that were meant to shoot.

...and for clarification's sake - and to save this from 1000 comments - let it be known that Kimber was used as an example of a modified series 80, but not one that will harp on the trigger pull ;)
