outstanding!!!!!!

Thanks guys! They sure look nice sitting next to each other.

Posted it up on another site too and it was mentioned it was a very small band of serial numbers made near the end of 1942 that were G.H.D. inspected.

Danny, I think it's time for another "family photo" showing all your 1911A1's!

Hey guys,

Would you fellas be interested in a detailed 1911 restoration thread? We are about to embark on another resurrection of a completely screwed up 1911-a1.

I only take complete turds into this painstaking and expensive process. The patient was just acquired for the fair sum of $160.00. But the old soldier is in need of serious help. This mixmaster has been used and abused, notice the grindage of frame around the mag release. Notice the abundance of pits, gouges, with some faint pimped out nickle plating and general poopiness.

I should have it in about 2-3 weeks. I am scouring the parts bin, and may have already sourced the correct slide. When it gets here and I have arranged the correct parts Nick and I will begin the journey.

Here are some pics of said poop wagon:

besides the looks, whats wrong with it? does it fire? or need new internal parts?

Hey Shawn,

Quite the mix of parts there, it will be a long thread worthy journey for sure. I am interested to see the "transformation".

Looks like a late Remington Rand frame? Atleast trigger, hammer, and some of the other small parts might be correct, and type III slides aren't too difficult to find. Appears it may have arsenal rebuild marks? If you need correct grips, I would suggest http://www.simpsonltd.com/ they have authentic correct grips very cheap from when the U.S. melted the fleet of 1911's, and they saved the grips, last I checked even a few singer grips....search 1911A1 grips, free shipping too.

Will you mark the gun somehow so it doesn't get sold as "authentic" some day down the line to those who may have less experience telling original from a nicely done rebuild and finish?

Good luck!

Finally, after over a year, received my TF-308 Afghanistan Para Ordinance 1911. I never actually ordered one while we were over seas, as I didn't know who needed the money. Luckily, one of my good good friends ordered two, and was nice enough to sell me one.

Here are a few pics of it, and then one with my two Norc's. It's coyote brown, but kinda hard to tell in the pics.

I must say, this gun seems about 1000x better in every way compared to my Norc's, but only shooting will see. Fit and finish are amazing. Function is sooooo smooth. And it came with 5 mags, and Trijicon night sights! :D

Anyways, here are the pics!

If someone can translate what is says on the slide for me? I thought these were supposed to be shipped with "Canadian Forces" on the slide... Maybe that is what it says?

Hey Steve,

If it ever was to get sold I would list it as restored. Even a noob can tell a restoration, even if it done correctly as there are not many "factory fresh GI's floating around. Some Remington Rands in the box in the US but not many up here.

I am looking for a slide, grips I have. I am track a few in the US but would like to avoid the hassles of the importation. Anyone with a Remington Rand slide they want to part with?

Okay. For real this time. A buddy translated it for me. It means HELP and COOPERATION.

It's same thing used on the ISAF badge in Farsi/Pashto (Afghan)
