I wanted a cool USGI 1911a1 that I could use at the range without fear of damaging something valuable so Nick from Vulcan and I put our heads together and shazzam!
Thanks to my buddy Nick at Vulcan for sharing the vision! Great mate for my Singer
Very nice PF. I really need to get my project pistol together to send off to Nick, I talked to him about it last fall and its been on the back burner since then, too much going on.
Sort of a Frankengun, S70 frame with an older Colt's .22 conversion unit and a slightly shrunken set of post war Government Model grips. They go well together I think.
'79 Gold Cup I just received. Working on returning it to its original configuration. Haven't decided if I'll install the original hammer and grip safety, need to get it out and make some noise first. New medallion grips on the way, just need to find a replacement front sight.
I've had a couple sets, one from the ee here and another from a gun show. Both sets were shrunken to the point of not fitting over the bushings. Sold one and this set was massaged back enough to use. Still small (overall dimensions) but they work. Careful application of a heat gun relaxed the material enough to slip them onto the pistol, you can see in the pic how they have "pulled" together again between the screws.
Colt/Walther 1911 .22 These guns came out in 2011 and I was lucky enough to pick one up at a gunshow a couple weeks back. Only had it out once, but is very accurate and reliable with Hi Velocity ammo.
