Hi,

My recently arrived 1917 Enfield No1 MK3 seems to have quite a few missing parts (undisclosed by the seller :bsFlag: ). Best I can figure is that the/a previous owner replaced the fore-stock and the parts I've indicated below remained "captured" in the original stock. I have trouble believing that someone who cared about what they were doing would purposely reassemble a rifle leaving out a half dozen parts, but maybe there's something I don't know. I've checked Marstar and Liberty Tree and it seems a couple of the parts are available, but the nosecap nut, the inner band spring and the fore-end collar don't seem to be available anywhere

My question is: would any of the parts below been left out for a "good" reason ? Or is it more likely I purchased a hastily assembled rifle meant to be turned over fast for profit ?

Any help, clarification or advice appreciated.

Numrich has some of those parts. If you find a source for the forend collar (#33), buy two will you? I can't find any either! By the way, they also have forends that are unissued walnut.
I'd guess someone was doing a restore job and went ahead without all the bits and pieces.

Thanks...I'll give them a try. Funny thing is the previous owner described the rifle as an "accurate shooter".....I'm having trouble believing that lol.

Checked Numrich..between them and Marstar I can get everything except the nosecap nut and the fore-end collar. Seems like the nosecap nut is probably pretty important, can't see how the fore-end stud would work properly without a rear nose cap screw. Not sure if the fore-end collar is critical to accuracy, or just to keep the stock from getting crushed from over tightening ?

I've never seen, nor used, the number 33...

I can help you with 38 though.

Lou

thanks for the feedback...hopefully the forend collar is not a critical piece...no one seems to have it. Thanks for the offer regarding the inner band spring, but I'll probably just order it as part of a larger order from Numrich since it seems to be available there. The part that really has me stumped is the nosecap nut....seems rarer than hens teeth.

Check ebay, there is a listing for 5 screws and nuts in england, I think $20 for the 5 buy it now, if you get them let me know and I'll grab two off of you. I would grab them but I don't have an ebay account.

I saw the same....but now I'm starting to add up the various shipping charges..from 2-3 vendors...not sure if this rifle is worth it. Thing that bother's me is I'll have to sell it for a loss if I don't complete it cause I'll go full disclosure...unlike the last owner.

bah...

I'll let you know if I do it

no reason y must b rebuild job --couldn't find parts-put it together anyway to make a quick buck--im after doing about 25 rebuilds and believe its cheaper to buy complete rifle

lol...that's what I thought I was doing ! Just need to decide what to do with it now...probably needs a new nose cap as well (which doesn't match, but has a similar serial) as it seems the front screw is stripped. Not sure if it's a worthwhile project..bolt, action and barrel match but I think that's it....buttstock might be original, but I don't think the rest of the wood is. I should try to get some pic's up.
