My Grandfather and me.
My Father was the shooter as well as the photographer.

Not milsurp....that came later.

David

The rifle shown below was probably the first milsurp.
BSA manufactured-1945 dated. (Purchased early 60s.)

Skaal-tel.

My Grandfather was the boss.

And my Father was always the photographer and the shooter.
(A great German Leica camera in those days.)

Same hat and pipe... he taught me about fishing.(1952)

Same pipe no hat ....he taught me about feeding little chickens with my cousin. (1950)

Wow, Jean-Luc Picard Lookalike!

The boat is quite neat.

I have been scanning old slides and I am amazed at how good some of them are. This one is 1952.

These boats are like old guns.....difficult to part with.

That old lake boat is a thing of beauty. I remember seeing one in the bottom of a barn rotting away when I was a kid. Used to dream about rescuing it but it was too far gone.

Dark Alley Dan,
"Grandpas are very important people. They're like Dads, but with more free time and patience."

I absolutely agree with you....I consider myself very lucky.

My Dad on the piano and my Grandfather playing the pail.....many jam sessions took place back then. (Early 1950s)

My Grandfather gave me this Webley air pistol to scare the resident squirrels and chipmunks.

The Sheridan Blue Streak was the air rifle of choise back then.

My oldest Son with friends in the early 1980s using the same Webley and Sheridan.....stopping for a shooting break during a day of fishing in the creek.

Truly great photos! I love the streamlined, classic look of those older pleasure crafts. The new ones today, despite their modern bells and whistles, can't really compare.
