1958 (K) Factory Matching Letter Series SKS

I never said these things. I am talking of the paint on the butt plate screws and screw hole. Why must you argue with everyone?

We all know this entire painted black dip treatment is refurbished. Do not play stupid games here ok.

He has been doing this since day one, there is no use arguing with him.

Hogwash Boris.
SN marked butt plates are an indication of an unrefurbished rifle. I’ve never seen a refurb with it marked, and never a possible unrefurbished without it. This is for RUSSIAN guns, not Chinese.

There are 3 types of black paint found on Russian SKS rifles. The BBQ paint - refurb, the harder “parkerized-ish” coating (also refurb) and the easily removed, flaking off stuff that was put on to protect some parts during storage. The latter can be found on both refurb and unrefurbished rifles. When it was applied is anyone’s guess. It is NOT an indication of refurbishment like the first two paints I’ve described.

Agreed.

The paint on the stock plate was applied AFTER the EP serial. EP serials on stock plates are NOT an feature of original production-- not on any sks national variant.

Paint remnants above the EP serial:

EP serial on the stock plate = evidence of post-production stock maintenance, refinish, or replacement. Therefore, paint on top of EP serial on stock plate is NOT original nor part of new production process.

You make not much sense. All rifle had paint applied after fully being numbered and right before being put in crate to prevent corrosion development.

Of course it was applied after serial number.

Your English comes off as not really being Russian, like Kyle Myers from FPS Russia. (I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to discover that you really live somewhere in Texas)

EP serial on stock plate is not an original feature on any New production sks from Any nation.

Paint on the stock plate is more likely a protective measure for upright storage in an armory rack combined with protection from skin oils from palm carry.

For long term storage, the Soviets used cosmoline. Ever heard of it?

I'm still waiting for the OP to show us a photo of the muzzle crown. If the paint was applied to the stock plate for storage, then surely the bare, crown in-the-white will have this storage protectant paint too, no?

Thank you for making fun of my english, I have difficulty with keyboard on my phone. i see how good you are as a person, I am sure you have friends

Also you make zero sense, why would crown ever be paint?

Go post your bad information on other forum

Why don't you just ask your папа?

I mean, according to your story, he worked in Soviet sks production during the cold war didn't he?

I figure I’ll document this one here before it finds a new home, and risk Boris’ ridicule. Regardless, I have no doubt at all that this rifle left the factory exactly as it is, a 1958 in an original hardwood stock.
(OK, so it wasn’t welded plug pinned in 1958...obviously)

Great looking rifle. No doubt about it

Since you extended an invitation:

There's no evidence that golden bayonets and EP serials on the butt plates are original traits.

Early contemporary Chinese production (1956-58) was, for all intents and purposes, a cut and paste replication of Soviet sks production -- performed on Soviet made equipment and conducted under the direct supervision of Soviet managers and technical experts.

Excepting the stock hard wood, the early Type56 and Type56 production protocols were EXACT copies of the late Soviet design and manufacturing processes.

No such golden bayonet on the contemporaneous type56. Nor any EP serials on the butt plate.

The emphasis on bayo staking marrks overlooks the fact that the bayonet does not need to be removed to add a golden coating. Simply open the blade to 90° angle and dip it in the golden solution

Similarly, the ep on the butt plate is indicative of post production stock touch up/ maintenance/refinish where plates were sometimes ep'd in order to ensure that it remained with the other matching parts with the rifle was disassembled.

Along with black paint and blued bayonets, the golden bayonet is most likely a means of surface protection from corrosion for the purpose of long term storage. All applied...post production.

Here we go again. I am tired of this crap. Boris, you've been proven wrong countless times on various forums. I won't even bother engaging.

You are wrong / mistaken / inaccurate / fallacious / misinformed / misguided / incorrect. Call it what you like.

Good day.
