1958 (K) Factory Matching Letter Series SKS

So to you a little black paint to prevent rust when in transit no longer makes it original unissued condition?
Oh, is that what they did, then?

And you read this from which Soviet source material? Or was it the importer who painted them?

The point is that half-a-century is an awfully long time to spend in storage.

The numerous inspection/proof stamps are evidence that even stored guns were regularly removed from storage -- possibly, even likley, issued in to service. -- as gewher76 stated his father barely fired his issued rifle -- and were later placed back into storage. There is no way to say with certainty the any given rifle never left storage, or was never issued, or never underwent some extent of arsenal repair, tune up, or rebuild.

The closest anyone can get to making such a claim is a "high degree of certainty." Such a determination being reached using various yardstick attributes which are widely accepted as being co-incidental to original condition.

As I have already pointed out, your OP rifle fails in various areas of this type of objective examination.

It seems somewhat obvious that you are too emotionally attached to the claims you make, and the rifle you own (beautiful, yes. It is) to step back and see it OBJECTIVELY for what it is.

We've all been there.

Perhaps you need to let go and:

^ lol.

The entire point of this thread was because you stated in a previous thread that there was no such thing as a hardwood 1957/58.

I proved you wrong. Are you going to eat crow like you said you would?

Like I've said numerous times, show me one that bears no indication of post production handiwork and I'll set the microwave on defrost and get ready for plucking.

I've seen plenty of high condition, hardwood 57s and 58s. Just as with yours, they have all exhibited various indications of post production handiwork, and, therefore not original.

As it stands, 57s and 58s in hardwood stocks constitute an exception to a standard. That standard being that 57 and 58 carbines were originally issued in laminate stocks.

I'll keep my crow frozen for the time being. In the.meantime, maybe you can start...plucking yourself.

^ but you said if I showed you a 1957 or 1958 that’s factory matching with a hardwood stock....

And I did.

So I guess you aren’t a man of your word.

That's not what I said.

I asked you to provide evidence of a 1957 or 1958 with no indications of refurbishment. Your rifle doesn't fit the bill.

Entertainment! Thnx! I think if Mr. Boris Badinov was Legit~ he would talk more like - "In Russian, Pluck make Refurb. Black paint, not Black Paint make refurb" Plus, I didnt know there was all so many 56/7/8 or whatever they are, in USA anyway. Hands on? & What if my "K' series is Not Chrome lined? Head {would} eXplode

I do have a 57 in laminated and in hardwood, both non-refurb
I also have 3 laminated 58 non-refurb....... still loking for one in hardwood
my 56 non-refurb is hardwood
We alls know that a few late 55 were produced in laminated and mine is non-refurb.....

Current conservative estimates put the total of sks45's in the USA at 15-20% of the entire soviet production total. With 2.7-2.8million sks45's produced between 1949and 1958.

That's 300k to 500k SKS45's in the US.

It's a very large relative sample.

No chrome lining in your K series carbine barrel?

Peerhepz you need clean rifle, Komrade? Orr, Koud be you need switch ammo?

Or do you not own any? haha-I'm sure you do, please indulge 'us' with your Collection, instead of your knowledge for a bit- would be Splendid! Thnx U in Advance BB!

Took a pic of the markings on the sight post on my 57 SKS (dear god cat hair gets everywhere). This gun is my plinker so yeah its seen some use. Also the channel that the bayonet sits in on the stock, looks like they didn't get very much, if any, shellac in there.
