1st Striker Fired Polymer Decision

Been shooting for a year now with a 1st gen CZ shadow and loving it. I'm now shopping for a striker fired pistol to add to my addiction. I thought about waiting for the CZ P10 to make it to Canada but after seeing all the reviews I'm a little concerned. Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to try out other gunnies pistols. I've held Glock 17s and was uncomfortable with the ergos, Walther's but the controls felt foreign (not a xenophobe!). No opportunity to try a Sig P320 or CZ P09. Not planning on IPSC or other competitive shooting.. for now at least. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The P320 seems to be the polymer of the moment, due to the US Army adoption. Better ergos than the Glock for some.
Other worthwhile choices are the HK SFP9, the M&P 2.0, the Canik TP9, the Beretta APX and the FNS9. Which Walther did you try? The PPQ has very nice ergos and probably the best trigger for a striker fired polymer 9mm.

M&P 2.0 in caliber of your liking.

Far better factory trigger than Glock, ambi controls, can change backstraps to your liking, good variety of after market parts and accessories.

I shoot 1911s and Beretta clone, M&P 2.0 def be next handgun I'd buy if I went striker fired.

Initial feel is important, but not as much as shooting a unit.

Try as many as you can, and against paper and reserve judgement until you have shot a bunch of them. I really like the look and feel of HK's. But I just do not seem to be able shot a number of them. Glock's feel a bit numb, but the paper target never lies.

Candocad.

I too just sold my glock 17 because I did not like it and will be buying a Sig 320. Had a chance to try one and i loved how it felt in my hand. the 320 is really nice. But try and feel it if you can before you buy.

Handled the Creed and the PPQ. Just unsure about the mag release on the trigger guard and decocker. Seems like alot of controls going on for me, but felt good in the hand. I know you can train around this though. I didn't have the chance to handle the M&P 2.0 yet. The ability to change out the back strap definitely sounds lie a positive. I just don't want to invest in upgrades on a new gun to make it run well, would rather spend the $ upfront on a well rounded firearm.

The PPQ M2 has the mag release in the traditional location albeit a disappointment for those who used the paddle mag release. My list would fall to:
1. PPQ M2 5"
2. Sig 320
3. M&P Gen 2 ( Nothing wrong with a Gen 1 at the right price)
4. Springfield XDM
4. FNS9
5. Canick TP9FS if you can find one

All of the above in 9MM.

#'s 1 &2 Have the best triggers of any I have shot.

Take Care

Thanks Bob. I'll check those out also. Thanks to all who gave advice. I'll let you know soon when I find the one. Cheers!

I love the m&p 9. You can get a gen 1 range kit new for the same price as the 2.0 pistol, which comes with 3 mags, a mag holder, an uplula mag loader, and a bladetech holster. Just the accesories that comes with it are probably a couple hundred bucks. People complain about the trigger, but the newer pistols (bought mine in 2016) have an audible and tactile reset, and the pull is not bad at all. IMO the best feeling and most ergonomic polymer gun besides the hk vp9. But mags for the hk are 100 bucks each. And after buying a holster, mag holder and uplula, that price would cover the cost of an Apex trigger kit, which is the best trigger I've ever used on any polymer pistol.

Try the Hk SFP9. The paddle magazine might take some getting used to if you are a button guy, I find it a more intuitive, but I'm hearing there is button mag release versions coming soon. Drink the red koolaid.

I’m curious what negative reviews you were seeing on the P10c? I haven’t looked at all recently, but I remember everyone basically going nuts for them initially.

Just to throw my .06c in the mix, have you shot many/any poly guns? I also shoot a shadow and I haven’t found a poly that really piqued my interest at all, besides looks. Nothing felt or shot as good for me, I have quite a few more metal guns ahead of any poly on my list.

Only what I've seen on Youtube

I was really excited initially then started seeing vids like these. Maybe its nothing to really worry about and I should wait until it makes it up to Canada sometime this year. Any issues hopefully will have been remedied. I've have not had the opportunity to shoot any polymer guns yet but wanted to add one to compliment the Shadow. I really wanted it to be another CZ!

From what I have read and seen reviews on the Canik is that good. The TP9 series has a lot in common with the PPQ. The mags will work in the PPQ M2 series it is reported. Had I seen the FX model for $780 on one of the former site sponsors website I might not have bought the M2 5" as my SSP gun to get the two mags I wanted for my Match. The FX is Optic ready and a pretty close relative to the PPQ Q5 Match.

Take Care
