Interesting discussion, here is a quick comparison:

http://www.shopnoveske.com/collections/rifles/products/noveske-recce-basic-rifle
$1,730.00 USD = $2196.48 CDN

Colt SA15.7
http://www.theammosource.com/index....d=3991&zenid=88a9f1336390469748072b6108f397e5
$1,999 CDN

However the Noveske does not indicate how the barrel is made (CHF etc). I just wanted to point out the rifles are similarly priced.

EDIT: Correction they do, it is CHF for 5.56mm.

Cheers

so are Daniel defence barrels they are Cold hammer forged as well.

Thanks for that, my point exactly. They are pushing Noveske prices, but IMHO aren't there yet. Noveske fit and finish is beyond Colt, their accuracy is beyond Colt, they are both reliable. All this crap about people and "has it seen service" is stupid. Guns don't need military service to be good, even though there are many many AR companies who have that backing as well.
Anyways all I was trying to say is IMO Colt aren't 2000$ guns.

Noveske hammer forged barrels are not more accurate than Colt Canada's. Noveske sources the hammer forged barrels from the same supplier as BCM. They are M249/ steel barrels. Noveske's stainless barrels are more accurate (probably) but they have 1/4 the life that a chrome lined hammer forged barrel has. They are a different product entirely. Fit and finish? side by side they are pretty close. CC finish is pretty nice, maybe not safe queen quality for guys that own guns just to look at, but hey, why not.

Hey the Norinco CQ has combat experience Laugh2

It is used by China, Cambodia, Thailand, Libya, Paraguay, Syria and Iran.

And if the price for Colt Canada is too high, I know where you can get one for free (but I'm not telling).

What was the going rate for them after they lowered the price?

Considering they have been sitting there for over a year I might be able to get both for a good price.

I agree with all of this. I got both a 15.7 and a 20 just to "have". After using the 15.7 a fair bit I am really impressed with how these are built. I no longer consider them just over-priced collector guns.

Dunno about that. Out of the box I say its near the best quality "combat" AR available.
KAC is great, ($$$ more) but, has proprietory parts. Colt USA, BCM, DD. LMT are all OK, but lack the barrel, tuning and tweaking CC put into the SFW (15.7)

Larue is a pretty bench gun ;)

I did not set out to like the SA15.7 as much as I do, picked it up to have at least one Canadian AR worth buying that was close to an issue weapon. I have owned nearly all of the above, and If I had to keep 1, it would be the 15.7.

PS: I have owned Noveskes- great guns, I really liked the 10.5 hammer forged barrels. Overall now, they are heading down the pretty bench gun path.

Yeah I'm taking about the stainless barrels being more accurate. Noveske barrels I general are known for being top notch. Either way he asked for a company that has seen action in the price range and i gave one. Colts are nice don't get me wrong, but I don't think they're worth 2000$
