I raised 3 daughters and a son, and they all were shooting before they were 6. My oldest daughter and my son hunted with me a lot, the others less so, but we still all used time in the woods as quality time together. All understand firearms, know how to use them and have a respect for game animals that only comes from being there involved in the harvest. Now my son from my second marriage is 8, and will be accompanying me as much as is possible until he's old enough to legally shoot an animal himself. Good on you and your daughter! Congrats to her, big time! Eagleye.
With a daughter like that you better set some ground rules. Any guy who thinks he is going to steal my hunting partner better be able to outrun a 12 guage shotgun . . .
Great hunting stories like this excite me.
My son went with me since he was 13. My avtar is actually his buck.
My cousin Michel aka "Lucky Mike", has hunted 4 days in his life, and got 4 deer.
Me, I've hunted for about 15 seasons in 18 years, have had plenty of grouse, but have YET to bag a deer. Always wrong gender, too dark out, etc. Frustrating as hell. Good thing I like quiet time in the woods.
AWESOME!!!! I've harvested all three deer and a bear using my 243, bolt action. The older boys where I shot my bear didn't think it was enough gun. They even told me to borrow my husband's 7mm Magnum... HA! I use a 100 grain core locked bullet and they come down with one shot every time.
