I just read an article yesterday in the Calgary Herald about 20 burried brand new still in grease Spitfire figthers in Myamar. There is a possibility of 50 in total. :)

Road trip??? or errrrrr Boat trip???
Would love to dig those badboys up. The history gives me a chubby.

Would love to have one

Just looked on the web,a restored Spitfire sold for 1.5 million pounds in Briton
Another one not fully restored sold for 1 million

Yeah boat trip! Lets bring some back, imagine the snowbirds in those instead! Painted in original colours!

The sound of those engines is the best sound in the world.

Cheers, McLean

It sounds promising, but contemporary photo's of aircraft being buried at the end of the war usually show them crushed by the bulldozers burying them.

In the crates is definately promising though

We are talking about the British here. They know a thing or two about building things to last.

Pretty amazing tale I can't wait to here the end of it.

LOL...

thinking back to the last time I worked on British cars. We used to say "Why buy the best when you can buy British!"

Remember that car they dug up from the time capsule in Oklahoma a couple of years ago? What a rustbox that was....here's hoping if the Spitfires actually exist they look better that that car did.
