Something like 80% of the landrovers made are still in use.

Maybe 80% of those from the 1960's and 1970's are still in "existence". that I would buy.

Fact is, they have a HORRID reputation for reliability. durability? Yes. Reliability? Epic FAIL. One of my best friends is into Land Rovers. He owns three totally restored 70's era LRs. Two are civvy, one is ex-MOD. It's rare more than one is actually running right.

Modern LR's are just rebadged Fords.

My dads company used to make the Hawker Hurricane(Hawker Sidley), another beauty. P51 is still my favorite WW2 plane though, well outside of a me262.

Condition would be a real crapshoot after nearly 70 years of exposure to monsoon rains and floods. If they were intact that would be a real testamonial to those who packed them up.

They were apparently buried in still in their shipping crates, with greased paper and tarred joints. Even if there are only a few parts it would be worth it.

Apparently precautions were taken to help avoid them being crushed.

However I'm afraid that, if these aircraft do exist, and they can be found, once they are unearthed the Myanmar officials at various levels are going to expect extra "incentive" to let them go.

Awesome. Now they just have to develop an alternative for the 100LL that will no longer be produced by the time these things are airworthy again (I heard the EPA is pushing for as soon as 2017 ). Assuming even 10 of them fly again, that is still a pretty healthy bolster to the airworthy number.
