20 or 16 inch barrel

Yes what is speed count?
I shoot 22 from 300m and not sure where to put that variable into the ballistic calculator.
FYI: two barrels, one 16 inche heavy profile and the other one 20 inche heavy profile barrel
As long as they are good quality manufacturing they perform virtually the same.

Ammo has more affect than barrel length
use what you are comfortable with

Both rounds have a lot of "drop". The fastest top tier .22LR match ammo is RWS R100 at about 1130 fps and it drops about 173 inches (or 14.4 feet). An RWS R50 match ammo round at 1070 fps drops about 198 inches (or 16.5 feet). Scope adjustments can account for drop differences.

If it matters to the shooter, any other faster .22LR rounds won't be of similar quality and will be expected to have a much wider ES/SD

Personally it matters as with at least above standard velocity the lowest rungs of my internal scope ladder allows me to set it on the frying pan at 300m . Wind is also ridiculous and anything that get it there asap is a bonus . These are obviously extremes when it comes to RimFire but applicable in our experience

Depending on the individual scope and canted mount, you can dial bull all the way out to 300m and farther no problem.
This seems to be getting away from the original question.
Get a 16 or 20 inch barrel. It won’t matter unless you have a unique use for it.
Comes down to a few feet per second slower in the shorter barrel. Accuracy is not effective in practical circumstances.
The choice of ammo is the biggest concern.
 
I love my 13" barrel .22s, so handy, exellent balance, packable, short, accurate and lightweight. As all .22s should be. I see absolutely no point in having a barrel longer than 14". Anschutz would agree. They have made 14" .22 match guns that are really cool. Id also take advantage of the cool legality of these "short" barreled guns just because.
I love my jw15 hiker and my scorpio em322x. Both are tack drivers. Get a minimal sling and some low velocity hp ammo in that thing and you have arguably the best .22 hunting/general purpose rifle. Im about to mount a globe front sight and a adjustable williams peep rear on mine
