20 or 28 gauge?

I have several sets of those Lil Skeeters, they are useful for some things but I have one 16/20 gauge one that cracked lengthwise, not good. I currently have three different brands, the Gauge - Mate is best, it’s stainless steel of some kind, has excellent spring back and is slotted to allow it to stretch without cracking. They work well for hunting if you want to use very light loads in a particular gun but don’t want to add weight or mess with the balance like full length sub gauge tubes do. When hunting with these the whole adapter with the empty still inside must be extracted from the gun and then the empty case removed from the adapter. I carry a short piece of dowel to assist extraction but the spring back and highly polished interior of the Gauge Mates makes extraction easier.

Finally got my photo attachment working again, here are the chamber inserts I have and occasionally use. For the best results use ammunition with real brass heads ( not brass plated steel) like Winchester AA. I find these chamber inserts are a good way to keep chamber and barrel pressures manageable in older guns, particularly those with thin barrel walls. Patterns usually seem appropriate for the shotgun’s choke constrictions with the actual ammo (20 gauge) being used. Chrono’d velocity is usually slightly higher.

3macs1, as I believe I mentioned, that Lil Skeeter cracked in use, there was no noticeable flaw on delivery. I retired it after it cracked but it’s partner continues in service. Occasionally. The Gauge - Mates are infinitely better in all respects.

I'm sorry I missed that. My apologies

Go back up to Post #33 - was about a chamber insert to use 28 gauge into 20 gauge - does Gauge Mate make those available in Canada? - several features sound better, but pointless discussion if not available?? Op had asked about 28 or 20 gauge - my suggestion was a chamber insert allowed use of either into a 20 gauge arm. Still not sure that a casual user will see a difference in pattern, etc. - but I am listening...
