With all of the talk this past year about the limits of the 22 round and what Is acceptable accuracy versus just mortar shots why not do a challenge where we actually see what this little 22lr can do at 200, and 300 if you wish. One ten round group,
Really anything goes, just post a pic of the set up and conditions with the target.
Who can keep it under the 1 inch, 2 inch or 3 inch.
If you choose to shoot this at steel than you must post video of all 10 hits and your group size is the target size.
Instagram is acceptable with links,
I am not going to make a list of names for those who compete, more just to see what is achievable at range.
For those who wish to do 300 yards fantastic, let’s see what you can do

One of the 10,000 shots orange balls suspended on a string is also a good challenge.

Once you know your drops and trajectory measure the string from the point of suspension and use that as your point of aim.

Add to the challenge by trying to hit it while still spinning and swinging . . . on a 35" string it will take a while to settle.

Now that I've found a decent brand of ammo my 457 likes, the next time I'm up at my cabin I'll try some groups at 200 yards.

This is what I got at 100 yards with SK ammo using a front bipod and rear bag.

time for a TRUE & funny story.
I was out at the range shooting 300 yards with my 303. My buddy asked if I had ever tried the 22 at that range. nope..but we can sure try.

So after multiple ground shots & misses....we found the SWEET Spot. It was a branch on a spruce tree behind the burm. It was about 10 to 14 feet above the target. The branch was the 3rd from the top of the tree.
the targets were metal Pigs "2feet x 2feet in size" approx.

I got pretty good at making the shot. Cooey model 39 iron sites. Federal ammo.

A couple days later at the range, there was a fellow shooting a 270 rifle,..trying out his new scope and hand loads. Nice rifle bench, spotting scope ECT.

He was shooting for about 20 minutes having no luck at the 300 yard piggies.
So, just to be a turd,.I grabbed the cooey 39....and got ready to shoot.

he looked over and said " hey, this is for center fire rifles." I purposely ignored his helpful comment,.....aimed the cooey and shot.
Bang.............................................................................................................TING a few seconds later, LOL

He looked at me with a very pizzed off expression.......picked up all his fancy equipment,...jumped in his truck...roared the engine and left ,,LOL
the look on his face and actions were Priceless. Me and my buddy laughed so hard I feel to my knees.

that was a few years back,..and the range suffered a forest fire....now my tall spruce tree & my reference point is gone.
hope you enjoyed.....I sure did.

That is funny

Heck, sometimes you won't even hit the paper or target board at 50 yards. Best practice is to bore sight and shoot one shot at 25 yards, adjust scope. Move to 50 yards, 1 shot and adjust scope, move out to 100 yards, etc...

We have a private gravel pit with a range target set at 200 mtrs. with potential for a 260 mtr target.,
I had been working it with my Finnfire and MTR .17 HMR , still not too good with it as I don't have any
optic that I can spot my shots at that distance .
Some thing about sending 20 rounds down range then going up to the target and spotting shots
before doing any adjustment .
Now that will keep you humble ....... S

If you can’t see splash to correct it makes a long day

The scope I have mounted on my rifle is the one they had on Wild TV with Blaine Anthony. Works FANTASTIC! 1280fps ammo, zero at 50 yards bang on & the rest is just use the glass etched illuminated reticles out to 200.

Did some testing today. Shot approx 50 rounds per target at 200M. (approx because I only brought fifty of each and needed to confirm zero between brands. Weather was 3C with light wind. Rifle is CZ 455 Canadian with regular profile barrel, shot the 25 and 100 with Bipod and bag and shot the 200 with a cadwell steady rest with bag.

SK Magazine (bulk ammo fro SK that comes in a can of 500) About 10 inch of vertical separation and 41/2 of horizontal:

SK Standard about 6 inch of vertical separation (minus a few flyers) and 4 inch of horizontal (minus a few flyers)

SK Rifle Match about 7 inch of vertical separation (minus a few flyers) and 4 inch of horizontal (minus a few flyers) Weird that there is two distinct group

ELEY Force about 6 inch of vertical separation (minus a few flyers) and 4 inch of horizontal (minus a few flyers) The advantage of this round is that I saved about 8 MOA of elevation on turret to get to 200 from the SKs

CCI Sub-Sonic HP about 6 inch of vertical separation (minus a few flyers) and 6 inch of horizontal (minus a few flyers) - Add all 50 for this ammo so was properly sighted.

Not a definitive test..more shooting in my future

Checked my accuracy at 25 yards afterwards:

And at 100 yards:
