I have a feeling that anything anybody says to this newbie he is going to have a wise answer for it.

i 'm not noob!do you tell me seriously that hitting a deer in guts its a good hits?

Not to be rude, but can you please take this "conversation" else where caravelle? Maybe start up another thread? It really doens't have much to do with the 2nd Fifty Fun Shoot this summer.

Thank you, oppy.

Well, the flyers are out now, at Calgary and Edmonton Gun Stores. We will be using different targets this year, I will be trying a couple types next time I am at the range.

We are now actively recruiting donations for prizes for this event. If you know a business who may be willing to contribute, please pass their info to me and I will contact them. Thanks!

We are also open to ideas for advertising. If you know of a suitable paper, newsletter, website, etc, please post it here or PM me.

We are also planning to have a .22 cal range for the kids/ families at the same time.

Cheers,

Ben

Gentlemen:

It is not my intent to take away from this discussion, but Troll or not, I will not stand by and let this individual spout off ignorance as fact, or besmirch one of our own.

this is a shame! you have a big gun and doest know how to shoot a deer! save on a gun and pay you an extra day at the range to know how to aim and shoot.
stupid shooter! i can make better whit my SKS

Sir, are you even aware of what the job experience, history, field experience, and continued rigor of a shooting program this individual is dedicated to ??

carevelle said:
thx! but its true, i would me ashame to hit a deer in the guts instead of heart whit a 2000$ rifle

Tell me Mr. Carevelle, based on your extensive experience with long range, large projectile impact trauma, is the wound in the picture an entrance or exit wound?? Further, what was the path of the bullet in question, how was the deer standing when shot ?? You know, not all succuessful, effective and human shot are broad side straight on!!

carevelle said:
that my point, if he cannot have a good shoot whitout make suffer a deer, why he shoot????why? where is the sport?

This Mr. Carevelle is your most egregious comment. Were you there or are you basing this on your extensive experience with large projectile impact trauma, (in this case a 10 gauge) Did you actually see the deer walk away, or could it have possibly died in tracks due to massive internal hemorrhaging due the shredding of many vital internal organs due to the angle of the shot.

I would suggest that before you make an assumption (which truly is the lowest form on knowledge) you do some research before you make grandiose statements, and that in future, it may be a better idea to remain silent, and be thought wise, then open your mouth and remove all doubt.

In closing sir, as the final word on the subject, and back on topic, I invite you to attend the 50 Cal fun shoot, so that you may educate your self in person, to see what these rifles are really capable of. Further it would give you an opportunity to discuss the above issue in detail with the individual in question.

Respectfully yours and with out prejudice

To preserve the plates.....
It would be awfully heavy, but could you not weld two plates together? That is one in front of the other and then secured on the edges?
You could even have a chime ring!

I just "impulse bought" a Steyr .50 cal... I'd be glad to bring it along to the fun shoot assuming I don't get called out of town. Now I have to go non-impulse buy a scope and get up the nerve to shoot the thing.

I would pay a great deal of money to see the look on the face of "The Individual In Question" as Mr. Carevelle ask's that question :D :D :eek: :p

Mr. Caravelle I will say with Extream prejudice that the individual you speak of can hit targets more accurately at a thousand yards than you and probably many others can at 100 yrds. Before you comment further take the time to research the sport and the amount of dedication, research, practice, skill, dicipline this sport and style of hunting incorporates. I think you will find that it is some of the most humane and thought out hunting in the world. Be it with a .50 or other long range calibers. If you are heading to Genosee and are thinking of asking the individual that question, please let us know and since I'm working would you please take a picture of the expression on the Individuals face Richard when Caravelle asks the question..:D

LOL!! :)

Mr. LRC, if I do get an opportunity to do so, I would be more than happy to take pictures for you.

However, if work does not stop interfering with my hobbies, I may have to get a pich hitter.

I very glad you like my thoughts on the subject.

I can on occasion, be.............eloquent.

Regards and all the best

Course of fire.

Well, just a couple days to go!

Here are the matches, which will be followed by the "public Shoot"; a chance for the general public to try shooting our .50s.

This year's matches are designed more towards accuracy than speed. We have also introduced a "Tyro" or first-year shooter designation. This designation is used in many different competitions in a wide variety of shooting disciplines.

All matches fired from prone or bench.

Awards for overall Top Shot and Top Tyro.

Match 1;

5 rounds, 500 m for group and score, 10 minutes, , score on DCRA deliberate target ( 4 .5 inch bull with V-bull, scored 10 out to 1) four shooters per relay. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, as well as 1st 2nd and 3rd Tyro.

Match 2;

Confidence Shoot. 1 shooter per relay. Each shooter fires five rounds at various sized reactive targets at differing ranges. Score value increases with difficulty; smaller or further targets yield higher score. Shooter selects and engages targets based on confidence in ability to hit each target. Play it safe and make sure shots on closer, lower value targets, or go for broke at further, small targets. Tyros can shoot at 300 to 500 meters, or join the senior shooters at 500- 700 meters. Prizes for top score and top Tyro score.

Match 3;

Race shoot. 3 plus rounds, three shooters per relay. Reactive targets at three diferent ranges; 500, 600 and 700 meters, Tyros may shoot at 300, 400 and 500 meters. Each shooter must engage closest, middle and far target in order. All three shooters are firing at the same target at the same time. Spotters will confirm a hit at each range before shooter fires at next range. First shooter in each relay to hit the farthest target wins that relay and advances to the next round. Final round will determine winner. Prizes for top shot and top Tyro.

See you there!

Cheers,

Ben
