2009 CGN Saskatchewan Gopher Shoot pictures and stories.

I probably killed 50 to 100 or so :D As a rule I dont bother with pictures of the dead gophers...meh...doesnt do anything for me!

I think Pharaoh2 has a pic of my with a dead gopher I shot with the .270 though ;)

Guess I should have posted this on the current thread:redface:

Gotta admit, I'm not impressed with Saskatchewan summers!! but it was really great meeting everyone and as the Captain has said, it was a very good turnout. We reluctantly packed up on Sat. and I was a little concerned for the two big units following us out, the road was really soft and it looked like some who had left before us had to make a couple of runs on a few of the hills. In any event we enjoyed a ride back through snow covered fields and very respectable winds and best news of all, we didn't have to turn the heater up much over half way. I know everyone was real disappointed with the lousy weather, but there wasn't a damn thing anyone could do about it, but look forward to next year, and I've already got a head start on my ammo stockpile.
KUDOS AND A BIG THANK YOU TO PHARAOH AND THE CAPTAIN FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK PUTTING THIS TOGETHER
Hope you've got enough energy left to start planning next year

I was quite warm snuggled next to my ###y wife :D :D

Me too:D

Well i am stuck in a road closure just outside of Prince George after a Great and VERY eventful trip home but I will let albertacoyotecaller fill in the details........We did get some more shooting n in Alberta .......I am already planning next years trip
Thanks guys

One thing I did forget to mention, the trophy and medal, which bear a striking resemblance to bullet riddled cans that I won for my stunning and decisive victory in the beer tin race are safely stored in my safe, I don't dare put it out where it could be pilfered by some low life.:D I should have had the 200 yard rim fire also, but despite conclusive evidence (residue that could only have come from my bullet) that it was my bullet hole in the can, there were some who doubted my sincerity so I'll have to wait until next year and bring different colored bullets.;)
I think a few boxes of clays and a thrower are going coming along next year

Burn burn burn baby burn!

Well as bclinehand eluded to in his earlier post we had quite an eventful shoot after we left Saskatchewan and made it back to a secret spot of mine in Alberta.

Dave, my son Dominic, my father in law just finished a breakfast that probably made us put on 10lbs of artery hardening fat!

We then proceeded down the road about a couple of miles to help the rancher thin out some of those pasture poodles.

About a half an hour later, my son points out the fact that the rancher must be burning something as there is a black cloud of smoke rising to the west. About 10 minutes or so later, the rancher comes barreling down the road to inform me that one of the trailers back yonder is on fire!

Low and behold, Dave had the lucky poker hand this day! It was my Okagnogan trailer on fire. By the time we got there she was fully engulfed in flames. Daves trailer was parked right beside mine at the time. I let him get to his first and he quickly and I mean quickly got his hooked up and yanked it away from mine while I was trying to unhook the two 30lb propane tanks of my trailer while praying that I was not going to take a ride to the moon via my own rocket boosters!:D

While all the was happening, all the ammunitions I had in for our shoot was going off. I had about 2500 rounds of 17 Mach II ammo in there along with about 2000 rounds of 223, 22-250 and 243.

I lost everything in the trailer. I lost two rifles, one being my 8 year old first son's rifle. He is quite upset about this. I lost lots of my hunting and shooting gear. I lost almost all my fishing gear. I lost lots of other stuff too but the one thing I lost that pissess me off the most was my laptop. I have lots of work related stuff on it that cannot be replaced but I lost about 3 years of family photos that are the treasures that I cannot replace. I am pretty mad at myself for that loss but I cannot do anything about it and the most important thing is that we were not hurt.

We even lost the bumper stickers we got from Tripalm!

I have a little tid bit of info for everyone who has an RV. One thing I learned shortly after this was that there is a recall on Dometic refrigerators from 1997 to 2003 for fire related issues. We do not know if this is the cause but everyone should check this out for your safety.

Dave has photos of the trailer up in flames so if he wants he can put them on here.

I am happy to meet all of you and hope everyone else had a better time than me!!!!

Really ####ty

You better bet it is ####ty.

My kid is still very upset about losing his rifle.

The only good thing is that the mileage was a lot better on the way home.:D

If I didn't have bad luck.....I would have no luck at all!

Were you insured? That sucks and I'm very sorry to hear about your news. I know how you feel in regards to your bad luck, but provided you had goog insurance you should do ok here. I wish the very best for you, and tell your Son his next rifle will be more special than his first. :)

Aw man, that sucks. Sorry to hear about your lappytop going up, as I know I'd be screwed if mine was ever lost also...is there a possibility of retrieving any data sector by sector, or is it a total loss?

The bright side is that you now get to go replace everything (I'm hoping/assuming you're insured. If not PM me) on the type of shopping trip that males can actually enjoy. :D

Trailer

Yes I am insured. Thank goodness. With the way trailer prices are these days, as long as the insurance agency doesn't try to low ball me I should probably be able to do okay.

I also have insurance on the contents inside the trailer as well. Everything is toast. There is no chance of getting anything retrieved. All that was left of the computer was the frame of the screen.
