Yes it will function without the safety, I will post pics tonight of a T-58 copy that I removed the safety. You cannot see the hole on the one I have. just the notchs.

That rifle looks almost exactly the sniper rifle from fallout 3! I guess I know where they got there inspiration. That shorty bolt action carbine would be awsome in a pistol calibre.

It's a neat conversation piece, but I'd feel like a tool only being allowed to fire it from a bench at my range.

As long as the overall length was above 26" it should still be non restricted.

just checked the specs on the puma bounty hunter.
it would be restricted here

12" barrel, 24" overall length
comes in .44mag, .45colt and .44-40

and to top it all off, it's msrp is $1250.00us

It would be easy to put a new stock on it to make it non-restricted, but then again it would make it class 3 in the states. Maybe you'd have to import them as pistols then convert them to non-restricted here and have them re-verified.
