need advice
Hello everyone I,m looking for any advice on hunting coyotes and coydogs, the season here is all year no limit however no one hunts them I have noticed a huge decrease in our whitetail population and though I,m sure its not all coyotes I believe them to be major contributers. Now for the advice I,m broke and still trying to get a good coyote rifle but its only a matter of time as I am determined however I have 4 calls one is a song dog and the other 3 are all rabbit or snowshoe I know our dog population ios out of control however I dont seem to call any in,
My face is always in the wind and by outline is usually blocked by a tree or tall grass my clothes our as descented as I can get them and I do wear full camo what am I douing wrong

Look behind you. You should always try to get the wind blowing across your position, left/right . Having the wind in your face is what your problem is. Coyotes will always circle your position to get downwind and figure you out. I had the same problem when I started and nearly got jumped because I had the wind in my face while I was calling and a dog snuck in behind on me. I blasted him in the ass as he flipped and lit the afterburners at about 10 feet.
That was 11 years ago and I can still remember the sound of him panting as he came running up to my call.

I would love to get some quick advise from you coyote hunters. My friends father has asked if my friend and I could get the coyotes that are on his property before they get the deer stuck in the snow. I guess my question is what do you do with them? Are they good to eat or do you just skin them and use the pelts. I just ask cause although the father has no problem with just killing them my friend and I are not too fond of the idea of killing them and doing nothing with the animal. Thanks
A decoy may be in your best interest, position it in a way that when the coyote circles for a winding he circles the decoy, not the shooter.
Know your calling too, keep in mind these are dogs, they are very easy to train, if you make a mistake they are significantly harder to get in range a second time.
Another thing is to maybe hook up with an experienced hunter, they may be able to show you what you are doing wrong, if anything.
Here is my 75th coyote of the year, got 4 in an hour and a half, never even took a call out of my pocket. I typically don't take photos of them, not sure exactly why, this one was a milestone for me though.
