2010 PGW Defence Technologies Inc. Manitoba F Class Rifle Championship

EMT sent Les.

Cmon guys.....lets keep this in the air.

Les has put his heart and soul into putting this together for F-Class....don't let it slip by the wayside.

Yes, the number of people who have contacted me with regards to Raton is underwhelming to say the least. Having said that, those who have contacted me are top notch shooters.... That's ok, because it means Bill Flintoff and I will pick the teams and get the training under way without having to jump through qualification hoops.

I was hoping to register before the deadline... but I haven't started with my income tax return yet :( If I do get some free cash, I'll try to register before the 15th.

April 15 update

5 registrations came in today, none with $ attached. :(

I've added them all to the overall total but now I have to wait to see if the $ arrives to back up the registrations.

These last minute entries bring us up to 39 registered competitors.

I sent out an email to everyone registered as of Monday about the suspension of cash prizes until we reach 40 competitors and it's been unanimous so far, everyone is still coming.

Here are the preliminary numbers at the deadline:

39 Competitors registered, 33 have actually paid up. Still waiting for six guys to back up their registration with the match fee. Those six entrance fees are going to make or break the match.

I sure hope that if we decide to go ahead based on entries that we don't suddenly get a bunch of drop outs or guys that don't follow through.

Things are looking really good but a final decision is still pending.

As i said, come hell or high water the BC/Kamloops crew will be there. Time is already booked off, pennies are in the mason jar, we are coming! Don P.

Update April 17, 2010

The match is going ahead. We have enough shooters registered to make it feasible. Unfortunately, we've had to make one small change to the overall match planning to make up for the lower than expected registrations. Cash prizes will be decreased on a prorated basis until we reach 40 registrants. Everything else remains the same as advertised. Cash prizes will be back up to full value once the 40th shooter signs on.

The early bird reduced registration fee of $350 has been extended until May 15, 2010.

Anymore "takers" Les? We at or over 40 yet?

I have even offered to a few guys at work with a sweet deal where I supply a rifle and ammo to use (my brand new 6BR Stolle Kodiak backup rig with a Robertson SG&Y Fclass stock, not even built yet). My deal was they pay their own entry fee and I supply everything else and they can even practice at our SPRA Open House before hand, but, no one jumped at it. I figure it would have cost me around $300 out of my pocket for ammo and used up barrel life for them to practice and compete, but no cart races there, too flat LOL.

I have a couple of announcements to make regarding the match.

First, the early bird registration fee deadline is extended to June 15, 2010.

Second, I am very pleased to announce that we had added another top notch door prize. the fine folks at Krieger Barrels Inc. have graciously donated a .30 cal heavy palma contour 1-12" twist barrel blank for the F/TR guys to fight over.

June 15, 2010 update

45 shooters registered. 18 places remaining.

Some of you may have heard through the grapevine that DND issued an edict on June 03, 2010 prohibiting the use of handloaded ammunition at St. Charles Range. That information was accurate. At the time the MPRA was extremely concerned that this meant the end of the PGW match and long range shooting at St. Charles in general.

However, through the tireless efforts of MPRA president John Chapman and DCRA president General Ray Romses (Ret.) from the moment the news broke right up until late this afternoon, DND has reversed the prohibition and is once again allowing the use of handloads.

As a result of DND's change of heart I am thrilled to confirm that the match will go ahead as planned.

Entries are still welcome. The match fee will remain at $350 until June 30.
