i know this shoot is full, but a friend and i are planning to fly from vancouver to ???? in sask in late may/early june. anyone know of some fields we could enjoy???

Yeah I got the link, thanks.

Not gonna try to seek an "exception" however, it's a PITA for a mere weekend trip (we have the same sort of thing going here, and I still don't bother). As it stands right now, I have "feelers" sents sent towards 2 people as possible shotgun drivers, and have been contacted privately by a 3rd. Whoever confirms first gets the seat.

I'm pretty psyched about that one, as I have yet to set foot in Saskabush in my lifetime.

Right on Rob! Did you get the link to the for I sent VIA PM??? Hope ya make it!!

Sadly, this year I won't be bringing the Ikea Trailer™. Jacquie and I plan on building an igloo.

On a more serious note I am very pleased to announce that I have finally found a load for my .204 Ruger. What a finicky beast it is. This is the first time I've seen such dramatic changes between different loads. The final result is sub .5" groups and I am very happy. Now I can just shoot the damn thing. Well, if I can find any Benchmark powder that is. Anyone want to help me prep 600 cases?

Captain2K. You may want to look at the 39g Sierra Blitzking bullets. Or let me know what your favorite is and maybe I have a few lying around.

I'm curious about when everyone plans to show up and leave. Jax an I are planning on arriving Thursday in the early afternoon and staying at least until Sunday. We have the following week off work and will stick around if others would stay as well. Shooting the gophers is fun but the great company is half the reason we make the drive. It was a sad thing to watch everyone leave on Saturday last year.

Can I put my spot up for sale?

Guys/Gals,

It looks like I will not be able to make it this year. I am going to be starting a new job when I get back to Alberta shortly and I know I will be fairly busy.

Therefore I would like to put my spot up for sale to the highest bidder!

Can I legally do this?

Greg

I was the farm this weekend while visiting family, the gophers should be hot & heavy by july. I managed to get a couple dozen without really trying on a cool breezy early season day.

Starting to get excited now. Time off is booked, and get to go buy my new gopher getter in a week or two....

Thinking CZ 452 American in 17Hmr, or Henry Frontier in 22Wmr. What would you do?

I know what I did. I sold off my Savage .17HMR (way too expensive to shoot) and bought a CZ 452 American in .22LR. I couldn't be happier. If you do go the CZ route make sure you order the YoDave trigger kit. $15 on Ebay.

If you want something with a little more punch consider a centrefire. I can reload my .204 ruger for about the same cost as shooting the HMR.

I've got the 452 in 17HMR last year and I love it!

Also got a 527 in .223 this spring and the set trigger is awesome, makes me wish I would have gotten the 453 instead of the 452. But its still a great gun.

Here's the 452

If you hit them right they literally turn inside out

Definitely interested in getting a .204 or .223. Was pretty impressed with what I saw last summer.

For now though, I lack reloading supplies/knowledge. And as much as it costs to shoot .22WMR or .17HMR, its still cheaper than factory centerfire. I plan on getting into it, but most likely not for a year or two.

Anyway, thanks for the opinions, although it leaves me with even more to think about...

Oh well, if I don't like what I buy, I can always sell it for 110% of what I paid for it on the EE :)
