2011 CGN Saskatchewan gopher shoot. Thanks to everyone for coming!

Instead of a sign, I have two orange pylons I'll put up at the turn off to the farm. They'll be on the east side of the road, I thought they would be easier to spot late at night.

Appreciate it brother. Do me a favor. Shoot me a quick pm with your cell number if you have one...just in case. I've got your map and the GPS co-ordinates of the place, but you never know. I started packing tonight. Of course there were a few complications....like one of the damned container handlers at the frickin rail yard dropped a sea can. Now I have to be up for work at 4:30am....JOY :(.....giant piece of S$#T !!! Have to stop packing and get some shut eye.

Anyway...we're both trying to sneak out of work early tomorrow. With a little luck some dumb ass operator was half asleep and used the bypass key accidentally. I swear I'm going to mount a camera and recorder in each one of these things to see what these morons do at night.

Ok.....time for some ZZZZZZZZ's. Hopefully on the road by 4 or 5 tomorrow night. See ya'll there !!!! :D

Well, a big hello to everyone who attended!! it was great seeing old friends again, and a lot of fun meeting the new folks. That was one kick-ass week! Just got back in Calgary, so I'm going to take a shower, then maybe have another shower. I'll post some pics later, after I have some supper and a late-night shower. :)

Ha I just got back to Coaldale and a nice poop and a real good shower later I feel like a million bucks :D

Was awesome this year, grass kinda long, gophers wearing ghillie suits, oh wait that isn't the awesome stuff. I think the word to sum up this year would be "LOUD!"

For everyone who didn't attend, sucked to be you :p

Just got back into town.

Man, what a great weekend. Had a blast :ar15:, as usual. Seems every year I end up shooting less and less gophers, yet every year I have more and more fun.

Huge thanks to Captain, Pharaoh, Ernie and Kelly, you guys are awesome for arranging this shoot.

It's always great to see everybody, such a great bunch of people. Really nice to meet all the new (and the new to me) faces.

I'll post what few pics I have after I get them off my cell phone.

Ahhh, now to have a shower and use some proper facilities; The one out there smells like its full of rotting jack rabbit guts :D

Well, Ruger1964 and I made it back in one piece, and so did the truck. Fought stop and go traffic all the way from Red Deer to the bottom of Edmonton. 8.5hrs actual travel time. Pharoah2...the noise in the rear end of the truck never came back, and thanks for the escort. Probably a rock got jammed in the park brake drum or something. Had a great time guys. Thanks to for the invite and to everyone who organized it. Still can't get the image of Ernie stopping a trap thrower arm in the face. Not cool, but I guess we can laugh about it now that he's alright.

I've got a few pics and some video clips that I'll post a little later. For the time being, I have to get ready for work tomorrow. Again, THANK YOU guys !!!!

No guys, thank you. Your the reason we do it, and we love it as much as anyone else!

This is the first time in four years we actually had great weather! No snow, no tornadoes, no fire and brimstone, only a perfect weekend. The final tally should have us at 29 people plus children. To the best of my knowledge the only incident we had was a rifle that gave up the ghost. It was great to see everyone again, and I think everyone had a great time. The days were hot and the nights were cold, a few people had the sun take them around the block a few times but otherwise everyones spirits were high. And the toys, so many shiney things to play with! Kevin.303 graced me with his .358 Norma and a bottle of Scotch! Thanks Kevin! I also learned that a gopher standing at 50 yards is no match for a Stoeger 2000 with a turkey choke in the muzzle. I also got to meet my older twin brother from a different mother, blacksmithden!

I've been asked many times why would I want to go to Saskatchewan to shoot gophers when we have them right here? The short answer is it's not the gophers we go for, it's the people. Thanks to captain2K for all the help, thanks to kelroy for doing the labour and thanks to everyone for attending. I had a blast and hope to see everyone again next year.

And now, a few photo's. Everyone please add your own.

Yep, great time again! I forgot my camera (have to forget something every year it seems), so no pics this trip. Good to see all the old faces back, and my only regret is that I didn't get to know all the new ones yet.

Weather was fantastic, gophers were plentiful, grass was tall enough to hide a cow in, the beer was cold and the fire was hot. What's not to like? Here's looking forwards to next year! :D

Thanks again to Cap't, Pharaoh, Ernie and Kelly!

hello all. someone(cant remember who...to drunk) asked me this weekend if there was a website that had public land access maps/regulations etc... follow the below link...this site is free and also gives you contact info of leasee.

http://xnet.env.gov.ab.ca/imf/imf.jsp?site=rec_access

go to land access then to Recreational Access to Agricultural Public Land.
that link should take you to the actual map.

By the way had a great time over the weekend and it was great to meet all of you :)

Awesome pics!!! Made it home after a 2 hr delay. Trailer tires went BOOM!!!! No surprise.

Great once again. Sorry, no camera, no pics. Thanks to all for a great weekend. See you all next year!!

Just got home! Gonna Chillax a bit then sort thru what pix we have and post the ones that dont show us doing anything illicit :p

Had an amazing time again, so pleased with the turn out and the weather!! Lots of gophers, of course the grass was tall enough to hide Farmer Harvs body until next spring....so less gophers shot, but all in all the best weekend ever!! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this years shoot the great success it was!!!
