2012 Ont Spring Turkey hunt predictions

I saw about 10 birds in a field today and 4 of them were strutting Toms as well as a single Tom with a hen in another field. The hens might be all bread by the time the season starts which could be good or bad for us hunters.

In my book best wild meat to make on the BBQ after being marinated in white whine for ...48 hours... JP.

I roast mine stuffed with apples and covered in bacon strips... Then the leftovers get slow boiled in a stock pot and combined with egg noodles and celery and carrots make the best soup you will ever eat..

At some times in my life i did drink a feeew Guiness at the Priest Mill... goods souvenirs, drop you a mail when i'll go in the area... JP.

This year is going to be the season of the hunter. Hens are going to want to head to nest early and that changes the mating cycle for the gobblers a little and could very well leave the gobblers with no hens or not many on opener making it far easier to call birds to the guns. Another problem that it could raise is if we have a harsh weather in the first week of may and bad rains about the 3rd week of the season could knock the hens off the nest and cause for a bad spring hatch in which turns into a bad season for reproducing in the population. Some of our populations can nit afford many more bad hatch seasons...

I hope your right. I didn't really think about it that way, But if your right, I should have a lot better luck with the gobblers around here. They always seen to have 2-5 hens with them all season long and never pay attention to me. I usually just get gangs of jakes that come running in attacking my jake so I'm forced to shoot them :D

I know I should be trying to call the boss hen over and tommy boy should follow, But she never seems interested either, Unless its first thing in the morning and I talk to her soon as she flies out of the roost.
