2012 Winchester

Perhaps Remington will bring some nostalgia back by re-introducing quality and old style 700 BDLs. :D

Hey, wait a minute, it is the Remington 700's 50th birthday this year!

Ask and ye shall receive, flur d'elise, irons, burl, all that good junk....

Of course, its a Remington....

If you're buyin, you can pick me up one of them, and an Alaskan...that'll tickle my nostalgic fancy for now..

A quick intra-web search came up, in addition to the 7mm RM you posted, with a Remington 700 CDL 100th Anniverary 375 H&H - 22" barrel with sights as well. Couldn't find a picture though. [/hijack]

They do have the stainless/laminated version. It looks like nostalgia is the name of the game.

I'm aware of that, but no synthetic. While laminate stocks look nice, they're pigs to haul around. I guess selling the laminate on the EE and getting a McMillan is always an option.

Easier to just buy the Savage Alaskan Bush Hunter, it already has a great synthetic stock, stainless and open sights for way less $$ and the same quality.(here we go, wait for it :D) :nest:

Stopped by Wholesale Sports in Nanaimo last week and got a look at the 2012 Winchester catalogue. Noticed the model 70 "75th Anniversary" edition. Basically a Super-Grade with engraving on action and floorplate . .30-06 only MSRP $1,700.00 range. Even more interesting to me is the new "Alaskan" model available in 06', .300WM and .338WM. Barrel is the original contour, 25" with iron sights and original integral rear-sight base (saddle). MSRP $1,269 range.
Hope some of these make it up here this year. Don't see much on the 'net about them yet.

Saw those too. The Alaskan is interesting, as I've been thinking lately that a M70 with irons would be a great way of celebrating the registry's demise, but a 25" barrel is getting long. Right now I don't know whether a Super Grade in .30-06 or a Featherweight in .308 with aftermarket Recknagel irons is going to be the model of choice.

The engraving on the 75th anniversary model is maybe a tad over the top for my tastes.

I'd love one of those Alaskan's in 338WM.

I'll have to wait for the lottery though.
