2013 Member Saskatchewan Gopher Shoot.

I can't say enough about what a great time I had again this year! It was nice to see some new faces this year, and even most of the regulars. Sadly for different reasons there were a few that had to leave early, we'll keep you in our thoughts.

And of course a huge thanks to the land owners that put up with the lot of us, and those 3 damn dogs every year. Though I'm ty sure they look forward to it as much as we do.

I can't wait to see what Kim has planned for the potential "new spot" is like, and what the invitation list will be like.

See you all again in 360ish days!

Yes, was a great time once again, and this year I think I even shot a gopher. :) As usual I forgot the cannon though :(, but otherwise the firing line was active with all sorts of missing going on. The beer was cold, fire was warm and I'm already looking forward to next year!

I pretty much forgot to take any pictures again, but here are a few that I randomly snapped on my way to the cooler...

I finally made it home. Monica and I would like to thank everyone for the great time we had. It was nice to see you all again and we hope that we are invited out next year.

It was a great trip back. We went to the Brooks Aqueduct and then up to Dinosaur Prov Park, didn't do much exploring there as it was just way to hot. But we did see two rattler snakes, I got out of the truck to take a picture and they were both right under my feet. I was standing on a texas gate and I heard the rattle, pretty freaky.

We then went to Atlas Coal Mine historic site and the Royal Tyrrell Dinosaur Museum in Drumheller. No trip to Drumheller is complete with out a stop at the Horseshoe Canyon, so we went there too.

On our way through Calgary we stopped in to Bass Pro Shops, loaded up on some ammo. Just as we got back on to Highway 1 to head to Canmore, a public safety announcement came on the radio with a Tornado warning. We left just in time.

These are also the people who dropped whatever they were doing and drove miles of fields to come and find me when my wife was trying to get ahold of me to let me know of of the passing of one of my best friends and his wife. They are also the people who made sure I had food in my belly and a drink in my hand and a kind word while I was shell shocked by the loss.

There are no better people.

Amen to that Dave

And any words I could think of could never express my own sorrow at the loss of your friends in such a tragic accident.
It affected me quite deeply as I am also an avid aviator :(

Again it was a success despite so many people pussing out last minute :p

All our regular attendees are invited back next year :)

Maybe I can actually stay?? LOL!!

It seems like every year in the gap between the end of hunting season and Christmas I start thinking about this trip. Looks like I'm not the only one!

See you all in about 6 months.

Watch for the 2014 CGN invitational Gopher Shoot Thread. Coming this weekend. Pretty much same as last year for the most part. All regulars are invited back. Newbies will be required to drop their names to me or whoever.
