2014 Vancouver Island Precision Rifle Championship Nanaimo

If you guys are interested in this match get on it.

I am going to look into the possibility of shooters camping over night on the pistol range for those coming from the mainland. I will let you guys know.

For those that reply to this thread that have shot this match I want you to list a few of your favorite matches that's how the COF will be formed. I will add a few of my favorites too;)

Can we sign up as a single or do we need to have a partner ahead of time?

I ask because I'd like to participate and will hand in my entry form and $$ now but my shooting partner isn't sure if he can make it yet.

And what is the "Golf Ball match"?

If it is Nov 1 I am in forsure

Im in forsure, but waiting to find a partner, and to find out what a golfball match before I send in the application.
As for input on matches, I would like to see some snap exposures that require 2 shots on each exposure. Say 5x 5 second exposures for 10 total rounds. Range doesnt matter, just make the target applicable size to the range.

As PH Mike said, the Course of Fire (CoF) will be made up from input from the shooters and from the match director. The CoF on the entry form is not accurate. It is from a previous match we had there.

You do not need a partner as single shooters will be paired up at the shoot. This one is more laid back than the Provincial Championship and is only 1 day. Shooters will take turns pulling targets in the butts. Depending on the number of shooters, relay 1/2 will shoot all the stages while relay 3/4 pulls targets. Then switch so relay 3/4 shoots all the stages and relay 1/2 pulls targets. The round count and course of fire will be determined closer to the date of the match.

If there is a golf ball shoot, in the past these were "reactive" targets. They are usually 1 moa targets (metal or aluminum discs), shot from 200 m. They are attached to a "disposable" wood frame. When the discs are hit it is very easy to see. Like the CoF, this match will depend on the desire of the attendees and also how much time we have.

The important thing to note here is that the CoF is not set in stone until we are closer to the match.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Personally I like the moving targets, I'm not good at them but I like them. I also like "Me and My Shadow" and dots of doom.

400+m 5 second exposures time works well, 300m and below 5 second exposures seemed too long (you had time to shoot, spot your own shot and make adjustments). The 3 second exposure time at 300m and below seemed more appropriate and challenging.

I didn't care for the Agony Shoot/no shoot and it took the most time of any stage to complete. I'd suggest dropping it, the time constraint of a single day event is reason enough I think.
