2014 Western Canada F-Class Championships

Just as long as you don't fall over the edge and tear knees apart like Stan did a couple of years ago. We have been talking of restricting the amount of stuff at the 600 line due to the limited amount of space.

Brian, you are right at 96.

Just a question, I thought we always shot 3 up by tradition. That's what all the other Westerns were.....right?
Cheers, Glen

But look at the venues, we've always been limited by number of target frames. 6 frames means you need to cram 3 to a mound to run 40ish shooters through 2 relays, 24 frames gives a little bit more elbow room.

Fully agree! It's always been dictated by the venue. If we have enough target frames to allow us to shoot 2 up, then why wouldn't we do that! If we go over the 96 cap, then shoot 3 up and use less target frames.
It's all starting to come together now.
Cheers

Hi all

Just a reminder for those coming from out of town and a little time extra. Kamloops Target Sports Assoc. is having a 300 meter and 500 meter match the weekend before the Westerns in Kamloops. It is a 2 day match and would be excellent for a tune-up just before the Westerns. You can get the entry form off the KTSA website.

And Kamloops is right on the direct route down to the lower mainland!!! You have to pass through Kamloops anyway.

Steve, now is your prize table coming?? Super big I hope with all the competitors you have coming :)

Thought you needed a bump and something to get everyone excited so....
RELAY 1, MATCH 1, TAKE YOUR POSITION ON THE FIRING LINE. YOUR PREPARATION PERIOD WILL START IN TWO MINUTES.
Competitors take their places at their firing points. After the two minute period and if there are pits and the Chief Pit Officer has reported that the pits are ready then the command is given,

YOUR PREPARATION PERIOD WILL BEGIN WHEN YOUR TARGETS APPEAR.
All targets are run up for the preparation period of three minutes. At the end of three minutes the targets are withdrawn to half mast.

THE PREPARATION PERIOD HAS ENDED. THIS MATCH WILL BE TWO CONVERTIBLE SIGHTERS AND 15 SHOTS FOR RECORD IN A TIME LIMIT OF 23 MINUTES. LOAD...IS THE FIRING LINE READY?...THE FIRING LINE IS (IS NOT) READY.
If not ready and when the firing line is ready

RESUMING COMMANDS, THE FIRING LINE IS READY. YOUR TIME WILL BEGIN AND YOU MAY FIRE WHEN YOUR TARGETS APPEAR
The targets are run up and time is marked to start for that relay's match.

Would anybody who is considering please get their entry forms in because we will need the time to get prepared. Thanks very much. Steve

Hi - just wondering how the number of registered participants was looking? I'm hoping to register for this asap, but don't want to proceed until I've got the prerequisite DCRA/BCRA paperwork all wrapped up.

(I've been waiting for several weeks now for my BCRA membership application to be processed, AND to find out from the BCRA what's involved in getting a DCRA membership, which I believe is necessary in order to shoot at the military range. (Or does BCRA membership automatically confer DCRA membership? Neither organization's website is really helpful - the DCRA site simply refers folks to their provincial association's website, but the BCRA's website says sweet diddly about DCRA membership...).

Thanks!

when applying for BCRA membership, there are various levels you can choose. Almost all include some membership with DCRA so in general, apply for BCRA and DCRA is included.

Get that entry form in as it is independent of the BCRA/DCRA thing.

if necessary, organise your housing as hotels close by will start to fill up

There should be a very strong turnout...

The membership continues to be an issue. The cheapest option is $30 for the DCRA and this is good for the year and $35 for the BCRA for a one time shoot. Basically covers insurance to use the military ranges. You can pay with one cheque. However, the processing takes a while due to the volunteer aspect of the BCRA. Put in your entry fee and you can pay the BCRA/DCRA thing at the range. Steve

Geez - about time! LOL

What's the count so far Steve?

Hey Steve......................Steve....................Hello.............Earth to Steve....................Anyone there???????????? Steve...............Come in Steve.......................

Hi Glen

Count so far is the mid 50's. I haven't updated the list yet because of my father in law dying, training for the kids and a wedding this week but will on Monday. Only been home about 5 days in the last month.

Steve

Any updates on the shoot? Has any prizes been mentioned yet? PGW rifle?
I'm pumped to go!

Is a range cart required, or is it not too bad to pack you stuff to the line. Winnipeg is terrible without a range cart, so thats why im asking.

We'll only be at the 600m line but you still have to pack your stuff from the parking area to the mound. I'll be bringing my cart.

Entry sent awhile back, and camping reservations at Thurston Meadows made......all I need to do now is figure out which rifle I'm shooting and do some loading.
