2015 Rimfire plans/goals?

I helped out the right Farmer. I have keys to a 1500acre ranch. Loaded with gophers.
So my goal is to fill a a wheelbarrow with gophers and the wife to practice lots with Her 22lr and 243win

Gophers have not been hunted in 10-15 years according to the owner

Photos/report when the time comes please! :)

I only shot one gopher last summer. I fully intend to rectify that. I have been working with my old Husqvarna 1722 heavy barrel .22 and been pleasantly surprised that I can get some damn impressive groups with Federal American Eagle hollow points out of it. Enough so that on a calm day, any gopher within 100yds, and maybe a bit beyond, will be in serious trouble ! ! !

Making another foray into the 22 WMR world. My old Winchester 67 beater reamed out to magnum just isn't cutting it.
I'm thinking a Marlin bolt with a tube magazine, no irritating sheet metal magazine poking out when I'm one handing it through the woods...

I plan on doing the Armed Squirrels Rifleman challenges. I hope to be able to find a place that I can get varmint hunting and to get my hunting license for BC.

Is there any actual uses for gophers once they've been used for target practice? (food/hides/etc..)

I'm gonna give smallbore silhouette a try this year, to try and sharpen my offhand for hunting (I've got my MKII set up with very similar trigger and ergonomics to my .308)

Hey guys...nearly Christmas, and with the forum hung-up in allot of Norinco talk (just razzing, I have a backpacker :) ) ....I'm interested in knowing what your rimfire plans for 2015 are. A new gun? A new scope for an existing rimfire? More rimfire hunting? For me, the highlight of 2014 had to be 2-1/2 days behind a 17HMR, shooting gophers SW of Calgary with a friend of mine who lives there. (and he's not even into gopher shooting=very generous) Anyhow, an HMR serves little, practical purpose for me here in S. Ontario, but boy....does that caliber SHINE when it comes to shooting those little buggers. No temptation to add one to the collection until I know I've secured another invite...but I'm stopping just short of begging. :) So, if I can swing that...I may consider a HB .17HMR for the bulk of that work but if not, I'm toying with the idea of a Ruger American in .22WMR.

Thanks for taking a moment to reply...even you Norinco lovers. :)

Well I've got my new Savage FV-SR that's been great so far. Already got a few muskrats under its belt. Still need to mod the stock to fit me better. Most accurate .22 I've ever had and will be my primary gopher gun this year.

Project gun this spring is a old Cooey 82 I've been working on. Just got the extractor replaced and peep on the rear. Tonight I start stripping the old paint off the stock. Probably sell my model 75 since I like the 82 better.

Continue Modding my Chiappa Little Badger so it's easier to carry when I'm in the fields. Trying to find a bolt on pocket clip that I can attach to the side.

Probably use my .17HMR sparingly now that ammo is $180-190 a brick, I can reload my .223 for that price. I've got a full brick that I'll probably use on magpies or gophers around more settled areas.

I'm waiting for the damn winter to end.
Have been looking at buying a new rifle, maybe a 17HMR., or a Ruger or CZ.
I bought a case of .22 ammo and have another 5000 rounds in the vault.
No.1 goal is to find gophers to shoot within a 90 minute drive from Winnipeg.
Otherwise get out there and shoot my Henry .22 and .22WMR.
Main thing is to have fun.

post lady just delivered my new henry frontier in 22WMR, found two boxes of hornady's. working the next few days and i'll try her out mid next week after my night shifts. nice little gun
