2016 CDTSA Multigun Matches **critical UPDATE Post 251 ** SEPT Match

For anyone coming down to help setup we're starting at 3 pm today. Need to be a CDTSA member to be on the range today though for insurance reasons. Welcome to camp with us on the range. Bringing a BBQ down as well if you need to cook something tonight.

Everyone else we'll see Sunday morning bright and early!

Great to hear some Medicine Hat guys are coming out. Looking forward to shooting with you guys again. Hoping to make your upcoming match again. You guys put on a good show for sure.

Thanks guys. Sadly we were unable to put on the June 3 gun match for the first time in years but the September 10th 3 gun in the Hat is going to be awesome. We have some younger, long time competitors, stepping up to design and host this match. I tired to get a few more of us out to this match but most were busy camping. I should be able to round up more for your Sept 18th 3 gun match. Can'the wait. See you tomorrow.

Yup, another excellent match, had lots of fun and learnt a few things... thank you to everyone who helped make the match possible ! and the sponsors... Cabela's and 911 supply (especially for the chamber flags) !

Where to start.... This was one of the best 3 gun matches I've been to in the last 15 years. Considering this is only the 2nd match this club has hosted, you guys hit it out of the park. Being able to run all three guns for every stage was the best part. Most ranges have some restrictions which won't allow this. I found the stages really well designed with lots of movement and some challenging targets distances (mostly pistol) loved it. We probably had the best squad of the day. Great group of guys. I met lots of new people and saw a lot of familiar faces. Everyone was quick to help reset to get the next competitor through. I didn't notice any bottle necking on the stages. Being able to finish up around 4pm and get back to Medicine Hat just after 6pm made the day the perfect length. The shower and the couch never felt so good after a day in the heat (and by couch you know I mean cold beer). Thanks to the sponsors, Cabela's & 911 Supply for the extra water, snacks, coupons and chamber flags.

I forgot how to use my camera for my first stage of the day, luckily I was able to figure it out and film Craig with his revolver on our first stage. He was the only one in our squad to run the pistol portion clean. I'm shooting the Walther PPQ Navy on the other three stages.

It was a great time!

Thanks Greg, Jordan, Karl, Jeff, Kristen, any everybody else who put on the event.

Also thanks to Cabelas for the water and buttery pretzels, 911Supply for the chamber flags and water, and UofC Firearm Association for the help resetting stages. Really helped out keeping people hydrated, safe, and progressing through the day.

Great match yesterday! I'm glad I drove up to shoot that. It was my first time to this range and I'll be back for sure. I also liked the fact that we used all three guns per stage and it was at an appropriate level of difficulty. Although novelty types of stages are fun, I really like the focus to be placed on the shooting. You guys delivered that.

I'm really going to try and make it to the next match in September. Great job guys!

P.S. Are you going to post match scores later this week? I don't recall having to give my email address at the time of registration.

Like Devry said, We had a fantastic time, best 3 gun I've ever been to to date. Had a blast on every stage, got a wicked sunglasses tan, and had an awesome squad. The 50m pistol targets haunted my dreams a little but that's to be expected. Thanks to everyone who helped put it on! Hope to make it out again, unfortunately I'll be gone for the sept match. You know it was a good day when at the end of it you blow your nose and it smells like gunpowder.

Haha.

That is a good day. You did well at the long pistol shots so not sure why you were worried about them.

Good shooting with you guys.

I too will likely be gone on holidays for the next event. - Sept 18th.

I forgot how to use my camera for my first stage of the day, luckily Craig pulled up his socks and was the only one in our squad to run the pistol portion clean.

Ha, I forgot to record my first stage too. Looks like the ones I did record had the wrong camera angle so I might not be posting a video this time.

(I just finishing up the scores. You did very well! Should be in your inbox)

Nice shooting everyone.. 1.36 seconds split third to 5th crazy close
Thanks for all the admins for hosting this, everyone who help setup, 911, cabelas, and especially the University of Calgary gun club people who endured the heat to make sure it all ran smoothly. Hope to see you guys out there in Sept. It was a great match.

I did notice some scores came in very close. Even better represented by the stage scores.

Congrats to the top finishers. Good stuff.

Jordan, maybe consider using Practiscore next time. It may be a bit of a challenge with multiple units, but it's quick and would determine top finishers within minutes. Cell coverage is needed but you do get signal in certain areas. I used my IPad for PRS and we could easily announce top 4 finishers the second the last shooter finished. I had a paper back-up, but found it wasn't required. The program allows back-ups which I think it saves to device only.

Edit: It also exports scores to e-mail or excel instantly from the app. Only problem I had is it imported full names so I had to modify the last name to a letter only. Not sure if people would have issues with their full names being given out. Alternatively, they could sign-up for Practiscore with the modified name.

Some penalties are 2.5 seconds on top of the miss. When I get to my office I'll point out the rule numbers. My spreadsheet is setup for 5 second per miss. So a 7.5 second penalty is 1.5 misses.

Thanks for the clarification. I was hoping to go for half misses instead of full blown misses to improve my score.

Penalties tend to go up the further out the target it. This is to help discourage gamers from not attempting a longer range shots that requires extra time to steady yourself.

Then I assume those were people that ran out of ammo on range 1. Makes sense.

I think it was more Range 8 and people missing the 50 Meter pistol targets.

Which I dont think I personally got ding for because I missed one of those targets. So add half a miss to my card. (Doesnt change the standings at all)

8.4 Scoring Targets with Penalties Include:
8.4.1 Single Hit outside the center ring at any distance, + 2 . 5 sec Exclusion: Heavy divisions (Rule 9.1.5)
8.4.2 Any aerial clay target missed + 2 . 5 sec
8.4.3 MOT "Miss on Target" less than 40 yards, No Hits on Paper, Steel left standing, Clay not broken + 5 sec
8.4.4 MOT "Miss on Target" greater than 40 yards, Steel left standing, Clay not broken + 7 . 5 sec
8.4.5 MOT "Miss on Target” greater than 100 yards, Steel Left Standing or No Called Hit + 10 sec
8.4.6 FTE “Failure to Engage” any target 100 yards and less + 5 sec On top of MOT
8.4.7 FTE “Failure to Engage” any target greater than 100 yards + 10 sec on top of MOT
