2020 Wild Turkey Season Thread

I guess bird feeders in the backyard would count too.... so if you are on a farm, and plan on hunting the farm,. keep that in mind as well....

It depends entirely on where you're hunting them.

No it doesn't. Turkey are easily trained into coming to timed feeders like clockwork, done it many times behind my house. Once accustomed to the feeder they almost start behaving like chickens in that they know where the food is and when it's delivered. Sometimes they would be there waiting for food. I stopped because the birds were showing less fear of us each time we saw them, that is bad for wild animals.

And these are birds on and neighboring highly pressured public land...

Yeah, sure. And I bet you're going to cleanup any remaining corn before hunting too...

Not sure why your looking for an argument, there are herds of 50 turkey at a time that pass through, and atleast 6 deer all competing for the little bit I threw out at a time over a week ago.
No sense is replying to this as I wont be responding again to any of your posts in this thread

Only thing I saw was a single lonely hen but just about to go check other fields.
Not even hearing them this morning which is very strange.

Lots of gobbling over the ridge... had a group of hens come in. Checked a few spots... one had 20 birds, half were mature toms. Will get on those tonight... running and gunning four or five locations during the day. Sitting in pretty beech and maple bush right now, between a creek and a corn field... saw two gobblers on the othe end, trying to call them back in.

At 9:45, a big Tom has gone down. I planned on getting this hunt on film, but it wasn't meant to be. The birds came in from an odd angle and much further then I anticipated. I had 3 hens bring in a jake and two Toms. The hens passed by like they had somehwere to be and the jake and a large tom were in hot pursuit. The target Tom stopped well behind and while waiting for him to follow the others, he let out a couple putts. Knowing my cover was blown, I quickly refocussed on the leading jake and as luck would have it, the other Tom presented a shot at 48 yards. He dropped in his tracks. Tale of the tape is as follows

23.8lbs
10” beard
1.5” x 1.5” spurs

Called in the entire flock lol. Had my strutter decoy and hen out. The tom went 60 yards wide with 6 hens. Had 4 Jake's come right up to the decoys but didnt shoot.

Had a new hunter with me and was letting him shoot. He was fixed on the Tom so didnt the jake, Owell he said he was shaking like a leaf. Pretty exciting at least.
