2025 100 yard .22LR discussion thread

Instead use the spare time for some basic writing skills that most learned in grade school!! Just sayin
Yet you use sayin vs saying. Once again it is stuff you tell others to do, but cannot do it yourself. You're such a hypocrite. One shouldn't go after others spelling, when they make mistakes trying to talk down to them. Being old doesn't excuse you.

Unfortunately some rx drugs and mental injuries, head injuries over the years effected my memory, cognitive thinking, spelling and grammar for me. Oh well, I'm such a terrible person.

Also its a post from feb, just shows you cannot move on and dig up old dirt for drama..

The post I replied to was from the previous day and not Feb! The reply was for struff55 . I don’t care what Rxs your on or how many you take. Remember Ignore. The male version of Karen is Robert if you weren’t aware. Paranoia is a thing

Ten consecutive sub-1" ten shot groups at 100 this morning.

It needs to be very calm for this to work out. And good luck is also needed. Target results usually becomes more inconsistent as distance increases. While the ammo didn't shine over the chronograph, this morning it was consistent enough. Of course, chrony figures don't guarantee performance on target.

Two boxes of Midas, one with an ES of 37.8 fps and SD of 8.6, the other 39.4 and 8.7 respectively.

Well gents, I am starting to get discouraged. I have been working with a lot of different ammos over multiple outings and neither am I improving, nor can I find better ammo. Today I shot with Eley Contact, Tac-22 and SK Standard +.

Now, it is not that I shot bad, but I am not shooting any better over these past months.

Contact was an abysmal failure today, Tac-22 set the standard.

Hey Meroh , you and I both , I have been chasing 3 x 10 shot under 25mm targets for a couple years.

Shot a lot of SK STD + till Glenn convinced me to step up , went to
ELEY TEAM which is the go to now in my Annies.

Just didn't shoot enough this tear.
......skwerl

Don't get discouraged. There are better ammos than the ones you tried. The good news is that new Lapua has arrived in Canada (SK, too, if entry level target ammo is a must) just this week. The thing to remember is that if good results are wanted, especially at 100 yards, good ammo is absolutely a must.

Of course, not all lots of "better" ammo shoot equally well. At 100 yards if they have uneven consistency, it will show quite clearly in the form of "flyers". And remember not all boxes from the same lot will shoot similarly.

Below is an illustration of flyers with an inconsistent lot shot this morning with a new rifle. It was very calm. Two groups spoiled by flyers.

First, you can’t mention a new rifle without sharing the details. Second, even with the wander Errs that’s fine shooting 👍

Thanks. The rifle is a 54.30 with a stainless steel barrel. I received it on October 10, so I've had it just under a week. I've had it out a few times since then. Below is a picture of it.

I was surprised by this morning's results with the new stainless steel barreled Anschutz 54.30. It produced ten consecutive sub-one inch groups that averaged was just under .700". That was unexpected.

In addition to a capable rifle, the key to these results is an absence of wind or consequential air movement and two very consistent boxes of ammo. Both are necessary.

The calm conditions, while not as common as desired, are easier to come by than the ammo. The temperature remained below freezing for the ten groups, ranging from minus 2.5 to minus 1.8 degrees Celsius.

While chronograph figures don't guarantee ammo performance, the chrony figures were good but not outstanding.
The first box had an ES of 28.7 fps and an SD of 6.6 fps. The second had an ES of 33.1 and an SD of 7.0 fps.

Wow! I’m sure you’re very pleased with your new rifle. Obviously an outstanding barrel and a very good lot of ammo. That’s the most impressive rimfire shooting I’ve ever seen. Many would be thrilled for results like those at fifty yards. Congratulations on both the rifle and the marksmanship.
