21Sharp, will it survive?

That's what it is. Lead free and subsonic is a potent combination in the US. Not so much here, hard pressed to go with it over lead-free 22 WMR.

Yup. But I strongly suspect the majority of guys buying suppressors are also the "lead isn't harmful that's anti gun bull####!" types, which makes me think outside of Cali not a lot of people are going to give a crap about this cartridge.

On a related note apparently Lead Paint Truthers are a thing now - arguing they got rid of lead paint not because of health reasons, but because lead paint blocks radio waves from all the stuff they're using to control you - wifi, 5g, etc...

And as a bonus, its pretty tasty!

Jebus H. I thought Flerfs and Young Earth Creationists were bad enough. Then again, "chemtrails over Alberta" was a thing, like two weeks ago haha

They did some things correctly to ensure the best chance of 21 Sharp success. They used the same case and same COAL as the 22LR for magazine and firearm compatibility. Bullet diameter isn't so different between the 22LR and 21S. You could probably shoot 22LR ammo in a 21S rifle reasonably safely and it may even be reasonably accurate, too. Whether is would fit depends on the geometry of the chamber and how it relates to bullet ogive, but undoubtably someone at Winchester examined the possibilities.

I read it is designed to handle, practical lead free projectiles; higher BC, higher velocity, .22 LR cases should alleviate some of the costs of tooling up for a new cartridge. So far accuracy seems to suck a bit, but I wonder if CZ made barrels for it.... Ammo should be less costly than 17 HMR.

The caliber isn't meant for us... yet. Once they ban lead for use in hunting here, the choice will either be expensive lead free .22LR options that deliver poor accuracy or a 21 Sharp. For some folks, the switch will be as simple as removing two set screws, pulling out old barrel, and droping in new barrel. The 21 Sharp should do well in lead ban states and countries.

Remember not too far in the past, a revolutionary new bullet and reload your own rimfire ammo? Remember how it was going to revolutionize rimfire shooting with high BC bullets! Most probably won’t recall and that’s how this will end up, forgotten. JMO

I'll repeat what has been said here many times before. It's DOA.

Remember the 17 Winchester Super Magnum, 5mm Remington or 17HM2?

It'll go down the same road.
While certainly not popular, I can still buy 17wsm ammo and guns. So I've wouldn't call it dead, just unpopular.

I suspect 21sharp will be very similar.

Well, checking Cdn. Tire, Cabela's, Rangeview Sports, Sylvestre Sporting Goods, BV Outdoors, Bullseye North, Ellwood Epps, Frontier Firearms, they all show either out of stock, no backorders, or discontinued, while a number of others do not even list the cartridge, although several have new rifles. BUT, if you can't get ammunition for a non-reloadable cartridge.................
