My 22/250 was a std 14" A-Bolt. It did better given the shorter bullet length as it's a semi-spitzer. Hardly a long range bullet.I just check the Speer 70gr semi-spitzer and the recommend twist is 1-10" or better.

Sounds like some people need to get out and shoot more. I shoot in wind all the time not that hard to figure out hold over if you can see your impacts!!! If people actually got out and tried it it's not that difficult or very unbelievable.
They measure about .790". +/- with the lead tip.SC, I also had good results shooting the 70 gr Speer in a 1:14, but the same twist would not stabilize a 53 gr TSX. I don't have any 70 gr Speers on my bench to measure for comparison, but the 53 gr TSX is .793". Would you provide the length of the 70 gr Speer?
I have shot my 22-250 quite a bit but I guess not quite enough.....I can figure out holdover (my scope does not have enough adjustment for 1000 yard shooting) but I cant make those 55gr. vmax buck the wind like I want them to...I can definitely see a difference when its windy.
MOA @ 1000 yards is quite an achivement with 55gr. Vanilla
I'm lucky were I shoot I have pretty consistent wind direction it makes it a little easier. I put on a set of z rings with inserts and got a much needed 30 mins now it's just dial and shoot.

I wonder if the Speers would be "weight forward" and if that would be a factor. Also the Speers would be a bit slower in velocity. Thinking out loud here.Now thats interesting isn't it. A difference of only .003" between the two bullets and the 70 gr Speer stabilizes while the 53 gr TSX doesn't. With such a small difference you'd have expected the occasional elongated hole with the Speer; I don't recall seeing any, yet all of the TSX holes were elongated.
