Tod. Try and pay attention. This isnt about the 7mag, this is about the 22/250. No doubt the 7 mag is a great gun. There is no arguing it. The subject here is the 22/250.

I know you have alot of experience with the 22/250.

1899; I dont cruise around regularly, only when I have too much time on my hands, like right now(ask my wife) I was un aware of previous threads so perhaps chided comments are missed by us casual users.
And like I added for information only, not advising anyone to the viability of the combination. Just it's been done more than once, and should not be over looked even if you dont agree.
 
I love sensible, plausible threads and overall threads motivated by encouraging others to hunt safely and sensibly.
Now where have those threads gone about Gatehouse and his bear huntin' spear? :confused: :p :D

I have seen my uncle an old trapper take black bears with a 222 rem. with one shot to the neck at 100 yds.
I have also seen a fellow member shoot a nice bear with a 45-70 at 50 yds in the shoulder that the bullet failed, we shot the bear about 30 days later at the bait.
We could see where the bullet smashed the front leg but failed to do any damage.
I have had to look for a few bears at baits that were not hit well.

I believe in a heavy well built bullet for bears and any other game and good shot placment.

No one is going to argue that Tod has verbal diahorea(sp?), for want of a better term.
But I think you should look back over his posts, Davey, and I'll grant you there are alot of them.
And I'd be careful what I said about Gatehouse too, although it really is just too much temptation not to take the piss out of him.:D

those that think they have nothing left to learn are usely the ones that need help the most. you never know what you might learn so keep an open mind. Age is irrelevent. I'm a dive instructor, and a pretty good one I've been told, but I still learn things every class, FROM MY STUDENTS.

actually, I have shot 13 black bears in my life, every one with a 7mm. Honestly.

You can think what you want of me, see if I care.

BTW, you're only 3590 posts behind me, keep truckin' :)
