22-250 for deer

Barnes has 50gr and 55gr options, but they are longer than lead bullets so you would have to test stability in a 1:14 twist.

Nosler partitions only come in 60gr, which I doubt very much would stabilize in a 1:14 barrel.

Likely a 50gr or 52gr soft point is your best option.

Federal fusion 55gr or win super x 64gr power point are both considered deer bullets, I've never used them on deer but have heard good reports from people that have used those factory rounds on deer.
I've tried 64gr power points in a 1 in 14 22-250 and they were stabilized, as long as they are sent fast enough. (They aren't too a long bullet since they are flat based and not a high bc bullet)

No problems shooting them in my 14 twist 22-250. I have taken wolves out to 300 yards or so with that bullet and would not hesitate to take a broadside shot on deer at the same distance.

The 60 Partition is a short little flat-base bullet and stabilizes easier than a 55 grain Ballistic Tip.

best two I've used in 55 gr weights were the 55 gr federal fusions, and 55 gr sako gamepoints. I was never able to find any of the barnes loads locally but I would like to try them.

I wouldn't even consider a 22-250 for whitetail,it's not even a legal caliber where I live.Too many things can go wrong with a light bullet and a whitetail, things can go wrong with any caliber ,but a a slightly misplaced heavier bullet will have a better chance of killing rather than wounding.

I get this arguement with my step father all the time for shooting deer with .223 and I’ve killed close to 20 with .223. 22-250 will be just fine.

Winchester makes/made? a 64gr .224 bullet for larger game.

I have some of those here as well as a good supply of 70gr Speer semi-spitzer which will stabilize in a 14" twist bbl.

OP needs to get into reloading the 22-250 if he wants to shoot deer with one. :)

The trouble with using a 223 or 22-250 is that many factory ammo offerings are loaded with frangible varmint bullets which are not well suited for deer sized game. Many weekend warriors out there don't know the difference and blast away. Use a proper bullet and you will get consistent results.

Saying that, bullets aside, there are many better choices for deer than the 223 or 22-250.
