22-250 or 222?

222 for me. I have had 22-250's. Keyword is had. Currently have 2 -223's and one 222.
You will love how nice the triple deuce is to shoot, pretty easy to watch your impacts, and doesn't burn barrels out like the 22-250.
Super cheap to reload, lighter grain bullets put coyotes down with authority out to reasonable ranges. Still factory rounds available, just not as many options.
Lapua brass is available for it, which is a selling point for some guys. Definitely wouldn't buy a savage axis in 22-250. Some savages are good, but the quality control is pretty dismal on those, and the stocks and magazines are super cheap.
Lots of guys saying 22ARC, definitely a good option, would be my first option as well. But I'm a 6.5 Grendel and 6mm ARC fan.

I don't know much about triggers. This one has a tiny bit of slack. An 1/8th if that and releases. Just checked. Not much pressure needed. Shot 12 rounds the other day. Scope was set at about a foot above zero at 100 yrds! What's that 500yards?? Left it at about 4" above zero. Wait for the lower rings and finish zeroing. Plan to set it up for 200 yards and see what it's at 300

Using 50 grain I assume? What's your muzzle velocity?
I use factory Hornady Superformance Varmint 50 gr. in my .222, I don't reload and they shoot great for me so that's what I've stuck with. Stated muzzle velocity is 3345 fps, mine come out at 3260 or so at -5 celcius. Gotta check it again when it gets warm see what change I get.
200 yard zero should put you about 1.5 inch high at 100 yards and about 7 inches low at 300 yards. It's the best way to set them up for coyote as they start running out of steam for a 'yote past 300 anyways. Point and shoot out to 250, just over the back at 300.

The mauser I used to have had a 2 stage trigger. The slack was a lot longer and the wall after the slack was pretty distinctive. Got curious about the 340 heres what the internet says. The creep is real
