Hey guys~the other ammo shortage thread seems to focus on what the asking prices are of ammo when people find it, and, who has what in stock. That's cool, but, I'm VERY curious to know what retailers/vendors/distributors are being told by CCI as the stuff has basically dried-up in Canada during the last year. I've emailed CCI numerous times, and get the same...bottled response every time. In a nutshell, they're saying orders are being filled in the sequence they were received. But, I've been working in manufacturing myself for 25 years and that excuse has a shelf life. Eventually, when demand is high, manufacturers make decisions about who gets what, and when, and in what order...and smaller customers can end-up getting the short end of the stick. Smaller customers...as in...Canada. Clearly, some stooge in customer service answering emails from a dummy like me isn't able to tell me more than that...I get it...but what about the big distributors/retailers in Canada? What are they (are you?) being told by CCI? Since it's the ammo (and primers) I used most, I'm almost taking this personally now. I had plans to buy a new 22 shortly but am now considering selling one instead. How can the shortage of good 22 ammo NOT be affecting sales of guns? If CCI is cranking-out as much ammo as their promotional material says they are, who's getting it all?
I was at Lebaron in Markham on Saturday picking up some 9mm.
Asked the lady behind the counter about CCI. She said they have had an order in since early last year and have no idea when it will come in. One of the guys on the floor said he knows for a fact some has come in, but it was all sent to their Montreal store.
