.22 Ammunition Ballistics chart

It's only fast at the muzzle. Not so fast downrange.

I'd love to get some of that. 98% of my gopher shots are 5 feet or less to 100 yards. The hmr does a dandy job as well but I'm sure a zippy 22lr would still be cheaper.

Muzzle 50Y 100 yards
Super Max, .22 LR 30 gr 1750 / 204 N/A 1191 / 95

Thats still moving pretty good at 100

No kidding! That's solidly in .22 WMR territory....must be hell on semi's though.

Not quite. The .22 WMR V-maxes (I think) are shooting 30 gr. at almost 2300, and Maxi mags are shooting 40 gr. bullets at about 2000 fps. Muzzle energy is around 360-ish.

Those super fast ones lose speed pretty fast as well. I would like to try a 50 gr. silhouette bullet in .22 LR. Some one offered one at some time.

the 30gr vmax I had said 2200.

At 100 yards that speedy 22lr is still almost 1200 fps. Chart shows 1191fps.

Can not remember which ones I had that said 2300. Ballistics by the inch says that the Hornady V-maxes are 2296 and the CCI V-maxes are actually going 2348(!) out of a 19 inch barrel.

My comment regarding the speed, is just that they are pretty super at the muzzle, but out at 100 yards, some of the heavier bullets at regular high velocity speeds actually hit harder.

I'd give it a try if I ever found any.

And thus lies the problem . . . finding some or any.
Some is no longer produced and much is not available in Canada.
Having used a fair amount of the various Eley Match, while the velocity is listed at 1085, that is the highest I have had and it was from a brick of Team.
The lowest was 1047.
The ammo for Biathlon is generally listed with higher velocities for colder weather.
Some of the Match Federal is no longer available and the current "Ultra Match" is apparently RWS R50.
The Remington Eley Match is priced in the range of Eley Match(black Box) but its actual grade is not known but definitely not Tenex but could be TEAM or EDGE.

Any idea how old the Ruger chart is?

Did you even look at the chart? I'm going to say no....as out of the 100 or so 22LRs there, I see only ONE that carries more energy at 100, and NONE that are moving faster.

perhaps you can enlighten me?

By your own admission what I typed was correct. And I'm guessing that I looked at it a little better than you. Look again and you will find 3 offerings by Eley and 1 by CCI that beat it. And I really did not have to read it to tell that there were rounds out there that beat it for foot pounds energy.

And I never did say that there was any that were moving faster. But remember that it is a 30 gr, bullet and all that it implies for down range ballistics.

I am also not knocking anyone's choice for ammo, just saying that buying a $7 or $8 box of ammo does not turn it into a .22 Mag. Or necessarily kill better.

so there are a whole 4 out of 145 that beat it energy wise....(and not by much), and that's a victory? Lol. Ok. "The Aguilia is faster than ALL of them at 100 yards, and has more energy than 97.75% of anything else available"

better?

If you think 90 more fps with a 25% lighter bullet kills better, go hard. It's your money.

But if you're looking for a super .22, it may be time to bring out the magnum or a Hornet, or Bee.

FPS? Nope....energy does. You keep moving the goal posts. Facts: The Aguila has more energy than 98% of any .22 on the list, and shoots flatter (higher FPS) than anything there.

you took my post and sh*t on it, I'm just trying to inject some reality over the opinion.

Lol, and I dont even shoot .22 LR....the only rimfire I really shoot is a .17 HMR, but I prefer the 22/243 middlestead when I need to make small creatures all pink-misty ;)
