.22 ARC with 88 gr ELDM and VV N550

PXT is the new gain twist from Proof Research, the first third of the barrel is very slow rate of twist (starts at around 1:500) and this will reduce the throat wear that traditional barrels see

75gr is plenty heavy in the .224" especially if its the sleek ELD Match from Hornady. The least wind deflection will come from the 85.5+ grain bullets though

Thank you, seems I have some reading to do and some decisions to make!

I know Proof are often mentioned when it comes to carbon wrapped barrels but I assume they do regular stainless barrels too? Bonus points if they do prefits and are available in Canada!

Looks they Proof do make steel prefits.......

If this PXT means better barrel life I will consider it for sure.

I just read a post from Hirsch on another part of the forum that Bartlein no longer ship to Canada (seems unclear why but I would guess they have more than enough business in the US without navigating our sea of bureaucratic BS) but at one point I read about a new breed of barrel with a different type of steel they were offering that would give superior barrel life.

I believe it was called 400MODBB - did this become a thing? I haven't heard anything about it recently but I recall asking a builder about it when I was having a barrel spun up and their take was that they were cagey as they felt it would mean it would be harder on their tooling.

So far the PXT are offered in Sendero contour carbon wrap, and competition contour stainless. They do some prefits for certain actions. It's all on their site under the PXT banner

There's a video on Proof's youtube of them firing a sub moa ten shot group in their test facility with a 7mm Backcountry @ 5000 rounds. That seemed pretty excellent to me
