Speaking of the 22 arc,

Have you noticed this when comparing with your 280AI? Pretty impressive if this is the case!!

.224" 80gr ELDx has a G7 BC of .249 (Bryan Litz / Applied Ballistics) - 277" 145gr ELDx is .281 (Litz), 7mm 150gr ELDx is .287 (Litz) and 162gr is .311 (Litz)

my 24" 22ARC push that bullet @ 2974 fps (Hornady factory ammo 52k Psi +/-) , probably could pick up approx 100 fps loading it to 62,000 psi (bolt gun PSI) - I haven't started a whole lot of 22ARC handloading development yet so haven't shot any through this rifle....did try 80gr ELDx w/ StaBALL Match in my kid's 22" Howa and got 2990 fps with some pressure signs IIRC)

wind deflection @ 1000 yards in 10mph crosswind :

80gr ELDx 2975 fps ~ 74.3"
80gr ELDx 3075 fps ~ 70.3"
270 Win 145gr ELDx (2970 fps) ~ 63.1"
280 AI 150gr ELDx (3010 fps) ~ 60.0"
280AI 162gr ELDx (2900 fps) ~57.3"

I know Tyler Freel runs his 22ARC at warp speed pressures, basically duplicating a 22 Creedmoor. The info above is from sane "max" pressures, apples to apples 24 inch barrels

I tried a new load recently just to see what velocities I could hit with a 62gr ELDVT and H335 in a bolt gun.

I stopped when I hit pressure signs, the primer just started to flow around the firing pin slightly more then factory ammo.

I haven't found a great accuracy load yet, but some of the speeds that can be reached compared to my 22-250 I find very impressive.

Any accuracy load suggestions would be greatly welcome.

best accuracy with early testing with 62gr ELDvt in my rifle has come with IMR 8208xbr - more testing to come! I hope to run this bullet for coyote

Just curious, are these loads tested in hot weather ? I usually like for the weather to cool off in the fall.

I generally do not shoot in hot weather. Load development is done in temps from +5c to +15c which is usually found in April/May, daybreak in July/Aug and back again in October

I will go out and shoot on the hottest summer afternoon to test some loads to compare them to winter results. I just shot some the other day when it was +26c. One of the loads was 22 ARC 88gr ELDm & Viht N550, result was 2894 fps. The next trip out was a cool morning around +15c and the speed was down to 2867 fps. A 72 round weekend shoot earlier in July in temps that were in the +15 to +20c was 2850 fps. Last winter, velocity of that load was 2804 fps when the temp was -12c

Did some testing yesterday with the 62gr ELDvt over a bunch of different powders to see what direction I should go

Factory ammo does 3288 fps to compare (24" brl)

H322 @ 3193 fps, SD9 fps on ten rounds

Viht N140 @ 3284 fps, SD17 fps on ten rounds

H4895 @ 3316 fps, SD15 fps on ten rounds

Varget @ 3330 fps, SD23 fps on ten rounds

Benchmark @ 3237 fps, SD17 fps on ten rounds

Ran out of the Bergers for the last 2 relays, switched back to 88eld N550. Cloud cover rolled in and mirage was wayyy better than earlier in the day. That's probably the biggest reason why groups smartened up.

Good velocity with 85 and 88 gr. For sure. I’m still stuck on whether to go build a 22 arc or a 223 rem. So much more available components for 223 out there and factory ammo as well. Those numbers make the 22 arc more appealing tho than another 223 build.
