.22 cal Handgun idea's for a 11yr old

pay attention to the distance between the rear of the grip and the trigger blade. another big issue, is make sure you use the ammo the gun likes when letting the kids use it, when the thing stove pipes, or ftf, fte, you want a shooter handling it who knows muzzle control, or you want a pistol that doesn't hiccup.

my 8 year old hands the CZ Kadet, just fine. a bit big for most hands though

They've already been mentioned but I'd second the Colt Woodsman / Norinco clone, pretty small pistol, fits my girlie hands.
The Ruger revolver is small, fun and maybe a good first hand gun rather than a semi.
The Neo is a smaller grip semi, maybe a bit large and expensive.
Overall if you can get a new / used Woodsman clone still for the $198 old price, it's great. Small, shoots everything you can put in it and cheap.

Beretta Mod 71, get one while you can...... :)
Good for shooters of all sizes and a classic quality made, reliable firearm.

I know nothing about them in practical terms (no experience using them), but my thinking for when I go down this road is either a single six or a single ten.

I really like the idea of a single-action revolver while we get the basics of trigger control and muzzle discipline in place.

Then again, the first pistol I bought for myself was a full sized 1911A1 in .45ACP, so I'm not exactly a model of restraint when it comes to getting things for myself.

That's why people are suggesting the Bearcat (smaller single action). A guy could always single load semi mags and then increase by one round at a time....

My 11 year daughter shoots the fiancé's sig mosquito with no issues what so ever once we found the ammo that it likes.

Browning 1911-22, it's an 85% scale of a regular 1911. Has a polymer frame too so it's lighter weight. Had the chance to fire one a few weeks ago. I was very impressed with it.

Some versions have an alloy frame, but it's still quite lightweight. I second the suggestion for one of the Browning 1911-22's, great and reliable little pistols.

my 2 daughters found the pistols to be heavy and that made shooting not fun for them.
i found that the lighter the pistol the more they enjoyed it.

the one they like the most is my old S&W422 which is a feather in the hands.

they are very accurate with that gun as well.
after that one they like the S&W M&P22 and the Ruger 22/45 Lite.

after that they start to complain about the weight of all my other 22's.

here is one of them with the M&P22

Can the Browning 1911-22 hang with the Buckmark for both reliability and accuracy?

The Calgary shooting center has over 16000 rounds through theirs and havnt changed a part yet, he told me they've replaced a couple mags but that's it, I find mine very accurate with American eagle 40gr solid, when I took it out last week I was using win 555 and of course it still functioned awesome but the accuracy seemed to be worse the am eagle, I do suggest a black label model though as the sights are better
