22 Cal Tin Can Shooter

Beretta Neos is an awesome plinker. Dead nuts reliable, eats any kind of ammo and by far the simplest to take apart for cleaning. The Flash Gordon Ray Gun looks are not for everyone though!

Look for a used S&W 22A they are very good and quite reasonable to buy.

I did too Heavy ! Thks RJ

Take a look at the Browning Buckmark

OK but too Heavy too ! Thks RJ

Too heavy? You must be kidding.... or your pistols are all lighter polymer guns? That's about the only way you'd find these suggested guns to be too heavy.

It sounds like you already have your mind made up. So just go buy the M&P. They ARE a nice gun but you may not find that it fits into your $500 budget. And the GSG weighs closer to the same as the 22A so you'll likely find that to be too heavy as well. And don't even bother looking at the all steel Ruger Mk III since it is the heaviest of the whole lot. Or perhaps consider getting a Mk III LITE model. That's about the same weight as the M&P at around 27oz.

When I was starting out I did find that the lighter .22 pistols provided a little more kick which made them a little more fun. But as I moved into speed shooting matches I found that even that slight extra kick made it harder to rip off really fast strings. The difference was slight but when the ranking is narrow even a small advantage plays a part.

The Ruger Mark III is a hell of a nice little gun. There are various versions. I have the bull bbl. model and it is great. The GSG is a good gun but not as good as the Mark III IMHO. They are hard to take apart I have been told, never done it yet.

JimmieA, the Rugers are not hard to take apart. But it's important that steps be done in the correct order to flip the hammer between cocked and released at the proper times. And when you combine that with having to remember to insert the magazine when moving the hammer to the fired/released position on those models with the magazine disconnect it becomes an exercise in memory...... which is apparently too hard for some folks and has resulted in the bad reputation for being impossible to re-assemble. But once you do it a few times correctly it's no more difficult than picking our nose and scratching our behind at the same time.
