.22 Conversion Kit for M1911 - should I buy a Kimber?

I've got a Wilson Combat (read: Ceiner) conversion kit with fixed sights and we (wife and 2 teenage boys) just love that kit. It's more accurate than I can ever hold it. It functions so very well with Federal BulkPak bullets from Cambodian Tire and Wally World.

And yes, I have owned a Ruger 22/45. I loved that pistol when I owned it, but it ain't gonna work on any of my SERPA CQB holsters that are set up for our Service pistol game. Nor is that wonderful shooting Ruger gonna fit in my USGI M12 holster. That was the frustrating part... a great pistol but no holster to carry it in or draw from. And I ain't gonna try a crossdraw with that 5" plus barrel with overhanging front sight. LOL

I bought the Wilson Combat (read : Ceiner) and I have never looked back. My teen sons and their friends just love that Ceiner kit that's sitting on top of a Norinco M1911 (formerly a .45) that's dedicated for that purpose. That .22 LR ALWAYS gets out to any range practice, especiallly with my wife and/or kids. Then when they make the switch to the 9mm 1911's, all the controls are in the exact same place. And the holsters that my wife and kids are wearing all accomodate the .22LR AND the 9mm 1911's.

Life is good,

Barney

I got a reply from Marvel and the $100.00 export paperwork charge only applies per shipment.
So they can export several in one order and only charge $100.00 for export.

Anyone know how/if the Kimber conversions work on Commander size frames?

There is no such thing as a Commander sized frame, the Commander uses the same frame as the full sized 1911.

I'm already assuming the answer is no, but do these conversion kits work in high capacity 1911 frames? Like the NP30 for example?

If they take standard slides the conversion kit will fit. The magazines of course will not.

If the magazines don't fit, then the kit's useless anyway though isn't it?

Yup.

By the way the Kimber conversion work's well on My Norinco Commander which does have a shorter frame then the 5 Inch frame..
The frame on Norinco commander's is about 1/4" shorter but the shroud on the bottom of the 5 " conversion slide is long enough to overlap the frame by about 1/8"
So far my Converison has worked well with Mini mags and Federal bulk packs!:dancingbanana:

I just got wilson combat 's 22 conversion kit(actually made by marvel, just put wc's sigh:p ) I haven't shoot it but it fits my cqb frame not that good(I mean compared to the cqb's slide:p there is always rattle when swinging the gun) I've seen kimber's 22 conversion kit. it looks even worse than marvel(at least marvel's mag is metal:p)

I don't mind the look of the Kimber and the mags seem pretty tough and well made for plastic.
I think for the price 2 mags in the kit would be nice...
