So a shot that hits lungs a bit far back with a 22 rimfire is the same as a 243, a 308 etc? Given what bigger/more powerful rounds can do, seems their "good shot" describes a circle of about 6 inches in diameter. Perhaps a bit bigger. Is the same true for the 22?
What about high shoulder?
And what is this "smack"? How is it defined? How does a larger bullet that opens to much larger diameters with more energy behind it creating less "smack" it seems quite magical.
How far back are we going here Mig?

Smack is defined as effect of smacking things.
Go and shoot some stuff with a 22 with good hollowpoints and a PCC, you'll see.
In many cases the LR and WMR have 300-800 fps more velocity than the 9mm.
The ban on 22's is not an evidence based policy.
My father would tell stories. Born 1925, raised in Northern Alberta. The government called it "relief", which amounted to $6 for a family of 11. Bought things like thread or baking powder. Sent out with two 22shorts, come back with two squirrels worth 5cents/hide plus stew pot. Switch if you missed.
The big rifle was a 1873 in 44-40, until they were thrilled to get a surplus 303. Moose hung in the barn over winter, take a saw cut a chunk of frozen meat off for supper.
Puts $14/thousand into perspective.
Meant dealing with the Indian Agent.
Everything the Govt does is evidence based.
Sounds about as ridiculous as saying "everything they do is always bad, every single time" to me. Why look at anything on a case by case basis and evaulate it and ask for proof? Extra work! Pfffft critical thinking....
Let's just invalidate everything all at once and say its all no good![]()
"Is a bad shot with a 22lr or magnum necessarily a bad shot if a 30-06 hits in the same place?"
"Hey man...Indian Agents okay? Covid vaccines! Who you gonna trust, me or them? Fish and game had NOTHING to do with either of those, but goverment man, you some kinda sheep?"
