22 lr ammo shortage

If you're near Brandon, MB, the Home hardware has a 5 ft high pallet of federal bulk packs for the sale price of $19.99.

If those are the Federal 525 bulk packs , then you should stock up.....Walmart and Canadian Tire sells them for 29 dollars a box here ; and they are out of stock and on back order most of the time....

Was at Crappy Tire on MacLeod Tr. in Calgary this afternoon, they had what looked like a wide selection behind the counter - no gaps that I could spot.

If there is a shortage, it would appear to only be with certain vendors, or certain regions. I haven't seen any evidence of it in town here.

I bought a couple of Fed. 525 bulk packs at the local gun shop here yesterday for $24 each, they still had a good selection. But, it won't go bad, and I'm set for a while now.

My dad picked up 20 boxes...well worth the 2hr trip from Winnipeg (one way), not to mention he stopped at Jo-Brook's shop & picked me up some bulk 45!

Ammo "shortages" seem to be in the eye of the beholder. The crappy tire around the corner hasn't had ammo of almost any kind for months and months, leading one to perhaps believe a shortage was happening, but the crappy tire a 10 minute drive away has shelves buckling under the weight of shotshells, .22 of all kinds and lots of other misc rifle calibres. Sail has little, but the LGS has plenty of everything. Makes me think the "shortage" only exists as a symptom of sloppy or disinterested stocking and ordering practices by individual box store franchisees or managers. Incidentally, the employees at the ammo-less crappy tire treat me like I'm a recently paroled rapist while they put on their best distasteful face while filling out the book while the ladies at the other one could not be more friendly and helpful.

If I were to clean off the .22 shelf at Cabela's here, I'd probably burn out my barrel before exhausting the supply. And that's just the stuff out and on the shelf at the moment, not even touching the reserves in the back. Not seeing anything close to a shortage, here.

I have spoke to some large retailers as well as one of the largest distributors of ammunition in Canada and the story is the same. There is a shortage but the manufacturer of ammunition continues. Ammunition is coming in to the country in waves so its probably best to buy it when you see it if the price is good.

There is no shortage of ammunition being imported from across the pond though. This stuff is expensive generally but if you check the prices in the states we are able to purchase SK Standard plus for around the same price as CCI standard velocity. Both good ammunition but there is definetly a quality difference.

I've been trying to track down some CCI products. Blazer, Mini Mags, etc.... and I have only found one store that has what I'm looking for. This is the what bothers me the most. Whenever I do find ammunition it is not what I'm looking for.

Oh well. We have it way better than the states.

Here in Edmonton most crappy tires are out of everything except thunderbolts and 100 packs of CCI. The west end location and Leduc location seem to be best as far as ammo supply goes.

LeBaron (Markham) just received a few "crates" of Win Wildcats. I bought 4 bricks($22.69/500) to test out in my bolts and revolver.
I have better stuff for my semi's (if required)......
