22 LR gouging

Shipping is no longer an issue with Chinese ammo, pricing is. PMC is the same or cheaper, and is perfect, accurate, ammo. The choice was easy.

The Chinese have warned us their price is way too high for 22; They make it mainly for internal consumption.

Does PMC still make .22lr? Even at current market prices it could go a long way towards helping some folks that seem to be getting the shaft with supply.

PMC used to make (or have made for them) .22 ammo several years ago but suddenly stopped. At one point it was made in Mexico (Aguilla?) and we heard it was going to be made in Germany but ultimately PMC determined it wasn't viable to do this and ceased production from any source. We used to sell several hundred thousand rounds a year and had excellent results with it. A few years ago a customer sold us back some PMC Zapper .22. I grabbed all (case) of it and use this as my back up supply. I found the Zapper line was mid priced but some of the best ammo for semi autos and was my first choice for my Ruger 10-22. Phil.

On another note I read in the Edmonton Journal this morning about a Canadian wide shortage and hoarding of .22 ammo. It was a Canadian based article with quotes from an eastern dealer and Blair Hagen from the NFA. If you thought things were bad before...get ready because everyone with start to buy and hoard this little .22 round that no one even thought about 5 years ago. Phil.

If you don't like the prices don't buy, no need to complain about your inability to buy what others can afford.

My only problem is with supply. I still consider .22 pretty cheap but I hate running crap ammo like Thunderbolts and 555 because I don't have any other options.

yeah, I read that article too. Makes me really happy I bought a bunch from you guys when you were selling them for $30 a brick a few years back. That's also why I recently traded my 10/22 for a 22 boltgun.

Hard to believe 3yrs ago box of 5000 blazer, Win... went as low as $200. Win555 was under $22. Once the last of my 4c/bullet stash is gone no point shooting 22lr that are 10c each. Might as well shoot reloads or 7.62x39 that are twice the cost but more than twice the fun.

As for hoarding what's the diff btw that and bulk buying. Glad my local supplier's discount for 20k primers forced me to buy way more than I need several yrs ago. Still using $28/box CCI and Fed primers. Same for powder, had to get 20+# of Titegroups to get $16/# price. Wish I had more looking at today's price.

Notice bullets price hasn't gone up much.

The thing that always amazes me is that everybody wants the capitalist system and hates anything remotely socialist.... Yet when confronted with the outcome of the capitalist system people cry foul. The issue is demand and supply as countless people have pointed out and of story. Maybe In Alberta under NDP leadership they will come up with a.22lr redistribution system or regulate the prices :)

Keep dreaming, the socialists would rather ban the round. And besides, I don't need or want a mommy to share the candy equally between the kids. Regulate pricing? No more that 25 cents a round and 50 % tax...get real. They would only allow one type of round of very cheap quality and require that the tips be painted pink because it make the round less aggressive looking.

the new cabelas in Moncton is limiting sales of 22lr to 5 boxes of 100 or less/ or 1 bulk box of 500+. paid 32.00+ taxes for federal bulk 525 rounds yesterday. they had some 300 round boxes of troy landry( from swamp people) signature cci mini mags for around 20 bucks.

How would they do that? Do they only allow 4 boxes of 50 or such? Are they simply no longer getting bulk packs?

At Bass Pro Vaughn yesterday I learned that there is a store imposed 200 round limit for 22LR per PAL holder. On the 222 boxes they make an exception ($13.99 was the price)

They didn't have much - I recall seeing a few types of Winchester only.

1 bulk box OR up to 4x 50 rounds. I recently bought a box of Federal 525 for $24.99 at that Bass Pro. Not sure where all the complaints are coming from.
